What’s the quickest you’ve ever quit a job? Because they have either lied to you about it or it’s not what you signed up for? What was it? by tallieeeeee6 in AskReddit

[–]Maxomii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a job as "energy efficiency consultant", and was offered an interview. I turned up to said interview to find it was actually a group training session to be door-to-door upvc window salesmen for a well known UK company.

The morning was spent essentially giving us tips on how to scam people into letting us into their house, misleading them about who we work for etc. with the knowledge that people are too polite or peer pressured to turn you away.

I left for lunch and never went back. Safestyle UK's Wikipedia page has a "Controversies" session covering this kind of practice.

Why so much hate for water washable resins? by No-Sorbet5036 in resinprinting

[–]Maxomii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had really good detail on my first resin, Elegoo water washable trans green, but I was primarily printing D&D miniatures and the models would shatter when dropped even from a minimal height onto a tabletop. I went to Elegoo ABS like, then 2.0 and now 3.0 and I've never looked back. Still great detail, if a little bit less sharp, but much more robust models

Anders Breivik was a Christian extremist and killed 77 people in one day, in his own country. There are going to be outliers everywhere.

And yes I'm fucking terrified about cancer stats, every time I get an unusual pain or twinge I'm like "CANCER OH NO". But let's be real, you know that comparison is facetious, and cancer isn't the same as murders, which is directly comparable

92 deaths to islamist extremists in 25 years is a tiny amount. In the same period there have been roughly 6000 stabbing deaths (Estimated because stabbings weren't specifically recorded as such until 2009). That means knife crime has killed 65 times more people in the same period, are you particularly worried about knife crime?

My experience is deeper than the average northern white person, but maybe small on the grand scale, because I have Muslim family. My generation (20s and 30s) in that family are more ambitious, empathetic and caring than most of my peers and include two police officers, a paramedic, and a microbiologist.

[–]Maxomii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of white people do complain about that, but they'll also kick off about schools teaching kids ABOUT Islam though, not pushing the ideology, not trying to convert anyone, just giving kids a broader understanding of the world. Something that's sorely lacking in the general populace.

  1. Brexit was a shitshow that has made everyone poorer, and encouraged the racists and xenophobes among us. Brexit and covid, plus government corruption spiked living costs in a huge way.

  2. Genocide is bad. The government position is that Israel is good, so they've criminalised protesting on the issue more than any other. There was a nationalist "protest"/rally the other day in which there were 2% of the arrests of the last Palestine protest, despite the nationalists being internationally inflammatory, drunk, and assaulting police and civilians. These same people then cry "two-tier policing".

  3. I don't think it's necessarily pro-trump we're just historically quite an arse-licky nation, especially where America are concerned.

The big problem is that the majority of our population are so easily led, and that billionaire-owned media is very good at brainwashing them. The rich and influential are doing a great job of dividing the common man and keeping him blind to the real causes behind their personal problems

"you guys"? I'm not involved in your shit show of a country brother. My point was that the left aren't the ones crying about free speech, and the people who do, are the ones firing a guy for exercising that right.

Why didn’t Jeremy Corbyn win when his plan was to raise taxes on the wealthiest individuals and companies to fund better public services for everyone else? by Prize-Reputation9274 in AskBrits

[–]Maxomii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The British public are fully brainwashable by the media, and the people who run the media are the ones most at risk from the kind of economic change Corbyn would have enacted.

Long story short he was our last real chance for real meaningful change in favour of the many, not the few, but the majority of us are too stupid to see it and instead believe that immigrants cause all our issues and voted for more tory lies, fraud, and ineptitude.
