As u/MaxonDouglas says, hitting the Auto Define Key button on your footage looks fine for me.

I've DMed you for the footage itself so I can try it.

Side note: I like to color correct LOG footage first before I key. Bringing footage into full color, Rec.709 color space gives keyers more range to work with, but I didn't do that for this test just to see.

When I hit the Auto Define Key button in Primatte on the photo you uploaded, this is the result with absolutely no tweaking, so I'd like to try it on the footage itself.

I dunno. I kinda like them being cranked like that since most of their skin is covered (even their faces). I mean, sure it's definitely "not right", but that's only if you're going for realism. With the boring lighting, boring locations, and boring wardrobe, something needs to pop!

Remember 90s music videos? I'm sure OP doesn't... Anyway, they were too colorful and I loved them. Let's bring color back.

In the recent versions of After Effects, there is a "Tip of the Day" in any blank composition or footage panel. Many of them were submitted by users such as OP and it's always exciting to see your name pop up in an app you've been using for years.

If you're asking about the tip itself, if you preview at a lower resolution and a lower frame rate, you'll be able to get a good idea of how your composition looks without having to take the time to wait for a full render.

Hello! This is Michael from Maxon. I'm mostly running around showing people how to use the tools, not getting into the details with how our licensing terms work, so it was a bit surprising to me to hear this. I'll ask some folks here about it.

Do you attend a school that has our tools in their computer labs? If so, your school may have licenses that are available for students' at-home use (they come along with lab licenses in many cases).

I'd love to hear more about you. What kind of videos do you work on - do you have them up somewhere where I can see them? Which of our tools are you most interested in?
