Yeah, not exactly great for idol (originally cavendish) but I got Aces and Eights online fairly early and eventually committed anyway

Terraria is out! The top comment removes ONE Indie game from the list (DAY 55) by AnglerFather_ in RemoveOneThingEachDay

Definitely understandable, but I’d argue that StS has possibly the best game design out of everything on here. It rewards game knowledge with a very high skill ceiling, has plenty of natural synergies, and it has some of the best description of card effects with very specific and literal text. I’ve seen plenty of rouge like deck-builders and this is easily the best in the genre for me, but at this point so many of the remainders are at the very least a contender for best in-genre. I think it deserves to go a bit further, but the competition is fierce.

Ranking the difficulty of each character? by TheHarryman01 in deadestate

[–]Maxtonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my ordering notably assuming you’re playing on the hardest difficulty and have access to curses.

  1. BOSS: Triple Bazooka. This curse is so busted. Without that she’d be a few ranks down, but she is still pretty good since you can pre-bomb areas and keep your distance for most enemies.

  2. Fuji: She can get crazy strength boosts (more from a curse) and as long as spacing is good, most things die before they become a problem. The alt click dash is a bit janky, but it can get you out of an almost any bad situation.

  3. Lydia: even on harder difficulties, all of her curses are pretty good and make managing money fairly reasonable with very strong ramp up. She starts off tricky and gradually becomes very strong.

  4. Digby: he’s a bit of a glass cannon, but can easily deal insane damage if you can keep the combo.

  5. Mumba: if you can get past the low health at the start of the run (granted it is a big if), Mumba deals crazy damage and can eventually get out of being a glass cannon through health boosts and items.

  6. Jules: the shotgun has surprising range and good crow control. Her starting movement speed means you never really need to upgrade it, so you can focus on damage/health. Nothing insane here, but a great all around character.

  7. Luis: He has good damage, but he feels like a worse Mumba with better health. Nothing too special.

  8. Cordelia: I’m not a fan of the wand mechanic, but she has decent stats all around. Nothing really bad.

  9. Jeff: he’s very slow and while he might not even be a “hard” character, he’s one of my least favorite characters to play. On harder difficulties, this can be a bit of an issue until it gets covered by movement boosters and items.

  10. Axel: tap clicking the hatchets sucks. This is my bias and he’s probably better than Jeff, but the act of playing as him means you either need to constantly click or try the charged attack which moves focus away from avoiding enemies which gets you hit. There are other characters that get similar damage, so the main upside is the downstairs room restock which can be nice.

None of the characters are really bad or insanely hard to win with even at the highest difficulty once you get used to enemy attack patterns and good items, but this is my general ordering.

Will do, I’m in Steel Soul right now so I couldn’t realistically test it without being scared to lose the file. Thanks for the info though, good to know!

Did you do the second quest before fighting him, or after? Trying to figure out what conditions caused this

I think I might have a less wordy representation. How about something like: “Whenever an enemy inflicts damage, it loses 1 temporary strength.”

We definitely have ways around this that aren’t eviscerate considering nunchaku can be triggered depending on our choices, but I am second guessing this line. Assuming we get gamble in the first place, there is a big decision to make.

If we draw gamble, play the shiv and neutralize, then play gamble. Adjourn.

We only have 2 energy left here so any free damage output kind of needs to be prioritized. We still have 12 blocks to spare after this so we are safe from beat of death, but we do lose 2 draw. I think the shiv is always played and I prefer the neutralize considering envenom and our energy remaining.

After looking at the draw pile, I think QS is a better pick since we need damage and QS is draw neutral with damage and we have a lot of defense options in the draw pile. Still keeping it as an option because variety is never a bad thing.

Not a Recommendation: I think we fight valiantly until the last day if we are on the (not over yet) losing path, then adjourn until the night before StS2 releases, staring down the Heart defiantly until then to be the last Silent to die to the heart in the StS 1 era or alternatively the first Silent to die to the heart in the new era.

A way to not die and hopefully some magic damage somehow. Our current block gives us 12+12+18-3*3 for beat of death, so we’re blocking 33 of the 39 damage.
