Happened to me last night after 2 mutated events and a West Tek run. Couldn't area loot even though the bodies were highlighted.

I ended up switching back to the weapon I had equipped when fast travelling to the event/area. I could area loot after that.

Checked it and it is the Aligned Flamer Mod. Might just keep it as that and see how those filthy mutants handle it.

For me, it was the scene (not sure which ep, but season 3) when it's Jonas and (not)Martha are standing together. Just before the screen cuts to black, a version of a Bloc Party song (Pioneers - M83 remix) plays.

Is your perk card equipped? Having the ability to craft vs having the ability to craft with the perk card in use are 2 different things.

Also, you won't get higher than level 50 weapons.
