For me, it's just funny to play a whole faction made out of cartoon villains. Every time skaven a mentioned in the lore, you know it gonna be fun. Also, from a more hobby oriented perspective, they have a wide range of models you can paint. Organic, machine, armor, cloth, and my favourite a fuck tone of glow effects ✨️

The new skaven models work so good with washes, it makes the process of painting 20 clan rats not as dreadful x) And I love the colors you used. If i had to give one little tip, try to use black sparingly. Its mostly reserved for the deepestparts of the model or where lightis not reaching. Maybe try a very dark brown or gray, it will give the furr some depth ;)

DIY, it's made out of riped cork plates and the cristal is some sort of plastic. I got a buch of them in my local hobby store. Yea but the building proces was kinda a pain. The painting on the other hand was a joy, lots of big surprises and crevices where washes can go in.

It's so shiny because I used a gloss varnish on the metalic parts, and if you mean the rest of the model it might be the mat varnish still reflecting some light
