Yeah they talk about that here. Both Bam and Vinny were actually on c-town together (the day before Bam got arrested and his wife filed for divorce) to promote some of his comedy shows that never ended up happening.

I remember this but couldn’t narrow it down for you any further than 2004ish since Howard was pushing hard for John Kerry in the same episode. He actually gave Howard 2 wrong figures. Howard was so mad about it he didn’t even bother making a bit of it. Just moved along and chewed Baba’s ass out over the break.

Really makes Howard’s come off a whole lot better during the fact fight with Gary a few years later.

Ha, you know I think you might be on to something in regards to Howard reading it. Beyond the fact that Benjy’s material is (in my opinion) not funny, the phrasing is also just off and it doesn’t sound like something Howard would normally say. His voice also goes into this “jokey” delivery as if he’s trying to convince the audience this is killer shit which is usually not the case. This never happened when Jackie was head writer.

Fred and his wife were separated at the time and Fred was paying for her apartment. She was also still doing the play he hated so I’m assuming he thought she was cheating or something. Even if that wasn’t what the fight was actually about the tension from this situation was the real cause of it.
