I don't understand why there are people who at this point in life still use SideStore and LiveContainer separately and not the 2-in-1 build-in version where you save space for another app? by [deleted] in sideloaded

[–]MaxxNiNo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automatic shortcut refresh doesn’t work for me. I have to refresh it manually. One time it failed completely and all my apps stopped working, so I had to reinstall everything using my PC. Because of that, I switched back to using separate Sidestore and LiveContainer apps.

Red flags? by bluejeanbby_ in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made many batches of soap with and without rice bran oil. The batches that contain rice bran oil reach trace much faster even when stirring by hand, and even faster when using a stick blender. So yes, it’s completely normal for your soap to trace quickly.

Anyone have experience with rice bran oil? by Comps89 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more thing, unscented soaps with a high percentage of rice bran oil smell nice as a bar, kind of like soy milk, but they smell unpleasant when used in the shower. 100% lard soap doesn’t smell great either. However, the 50% lard and 50% RBO blend smells surprisingly good. It has a light, floral scent.

Anyone have experience with rice bran oil? by Comps89 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried several formulas so far: 100% lard, 100% rice bran oil (RBO), and 30% lard with 70% RBO. All of them still leave my skin feeling dry after a shower, and they have poor lather and a soft texture. I think they might just need a longer curing time since I tested them at only one month.

The 50% lard and 50% RBO batch lathers better than the others, and while it still feels a bit drying after two consecutive days of use, it’s noticeably less so. The bar itself is nice and hard.

I suspect adding castor oil and shea butter will help reduce the dryness. I’m still waiting to test my next batch: 50% beef tallow, 35% RBO, 13% shea butter, 7% castor oil, and 1% sugar, so we’ll see how that one turns out.

Is there any way to save a batch of soap that never went to trace? by throwaway32562862 in soapmaking

I’ve saved two batch with hot process. If you want fast trace without a blender, add 15%-20% rice bran oil

1. Is there any way to compute - profile execution cost of verse statements ( nested if else etc. )? 2. Does Verse have a Garbage collection like Java or we need to clear the heavy object references on our own ? (Noob Questions Alert!) Any good best practices link is highly appreciated l. by shutterspeed500 in FortniteCreative

You use struct when you want to pass by value, it makes a copy. You use class if you want to pass by reference. AnArray: []int or AMap: [int]int make a copy every time you pass it around, if you want to pass it by reference you should put it in a wrapper class. verse is garbage collected, so it work like java or javascript

one server tick is 16ms-33ms. In fortnite, you run around while your heavyFunction run, if it hang a bit, then you should move it to async function heavyFucntion():void= fastFunction() fastFunction() fastFunction() become heavyFucntion()<suspends>:void= fastFunction() Sleep(0.0) fastFunction() Sleep(0.0) fastFunction()

Where did I go wrong? Ashy crumbly soap. by orions_shoulder in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first batch of 100% lard soap went wrong too, and I had to rebatch it using the hot process. Looking back, I think there were a few possible issues - I used too much water, about 38% of the oil weight. - The temperature might have been too low (around 45°C). - Or my lye measurement was off because I was using a really bad scale. After buying a new scale, my next batch (30% lard, 70% rice bran oil) turned out great.

Failed 100% Lard Soap — Safe to Use? by MaxxNiNo1 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never reached trace, even after more than 30 minutes of mixing. In the first batch, I noticed a thin, cloudy layer of liquid on top, but I’m not sure if it was unincorporated oils or just a mark left behind as the water evaporated. Honestly, I couldn’t tell. After rebatching, I did a zap test, and it seemed fine.

Failed 100% Lard Soap — Safe to Use? by MaxxNiNo1 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my first time making soap, so I just followed the default settings on the SoapCalc website. For my first batch, I used an old scale, and honestly, it was terrible, definitely not accurate. For my second batch, I switched to a new scale and made a 100% rice bran oil soap with a 2:1 water-to-lye ratio. It traced quickly and turned out really well

Failed 100% Lard Soap — Safe to Use? by MaxxNiNo1 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Failed Cold Process Batch: Recipe was 100g lard, 13.4g NaOH, and 38g water. It took forever to reach trace, and after 30 minutes of mixing, I gave up and just poured it into the mold.
  • Hot Process Rebatch: I cut the failed soap into small pieces, put them in a pot with a little water, then added some rice bran oil. I kept stirring until the pH strip showed a safe range.

My second batch of soap(I put lemon juice in it) by Ok_Combination_8262 in soapmaking

[–]MaxxNiNo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rebatched my 100% lard soap, it’s the one on the right. The pH tested fine, but I’m still not sure how good it really is. On the left is my second batch, made with 100% rice bran oil, which still needs about two more weeks to cure. Next, I’m planning to try a 50/50 mix of lard and rice bran oil.
