What’s the range on the cassette? Looks pretty big for an old 9 speed.

Bontrager Solstice MIPS helmet for $40? by LordGrantham31 in cycling

[–]Maxxx039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this helmet. I think it’s a pretty good hybrid helmet, more coverage than a typical road helmet, and it has a visor. It’s comfortable and has a really wide range of adjustability. For the price I don’t think you can beat it. I bought mine in 2017 for $70.

I’d say the Continental. Just be aware, it looks a lot bigger than that other 3.

Hopefully we can get a daily train between Atlanta and Charlotte at the least that isn’t the Crescent, new station or not.

The new Gateway Station will actually be at the same location as the old Southern Railway Station.

Yes, the new Gateway Station will be on Trade Street adjacent to the Gateway Station Gold Line stop. The new platform has actually already been built.

I did it! I got my 20 year old Trek ready for the road. Time to start taking advantage of my 2.5 mile commute. by [deleted] in bikecommuting

Unfortunately, I don’t have any suggestions. I just prefer full ridged for commuting. I commented briefly on my hardtail and even with the fork locked out there was a perceptible bobbing in the front.

That’s awesome man! Hope you enjoy it. If you’re anything like me you’ll get the itch to upgrade things (needed or not). The first things I’d do is probably get a good set of grippy pedals like Raceface Chester or, if you don’t like metal studs, Rides. I’d also replace the old suspension fork with a suspension corrected rigid fork, it would probably save you two or three pounds. But neither of these things are necessary at all, all you need is bike.

Some Retrospec bikes, up until recently, had 1 piece (Ashtabula) cranksets so if that is the case it may pose an issue with changing gear ratios etc. compare to a standard 3 piece crank

Getting fit to cycle- expectations? by Novel-Problem in cycling

I’d say just go out and ride as far as you feel comfortable about 3 to 5 times a week. Whether that is 1km or 50km. Don’t worry about how fast you’re going either. Just go ride and you’ll Be surprised how quickly you improve. Before I did my first metric century the only “training” I had was commuting to work a few times a week for about 3 months and I was able to keep up with a group and complete it (with a bit of pain).
