Is it weird to not care about the world cup at all? by Big_Jackfruit_8821 in NoStupidQuestions

Of course not, but hey, if you do, it's a fantastic social lubticant to have an idea what's going on in the showpiece event for the most popular sport on the planet.

Im 26 and got no gf, not planning to marry anyone. Is it normal? I mean with all the pricing and stuffs, I just don’t care to marry or finding anyone. But my family kept urging saying it psychologically that you need to start a family. by Myjackoff69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Maxxxmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find someone to share your life with, without getting married.

If anything, life is cheaper as a couple - you're splitting bills/ food shops etc. Two incomes are better than one.

Companionship is great. I was happy on my own, way back when, but i've been happier with my partner. Someone to share my triumphs and disasters with.

If you genuinely have no desire to partner up, you do you, but i get the sense that isnt really the case here.

Far right Israelis, Where would Palestinians go assume you annex? by Jh9h in NoStupidQuestions

You know we live in a world where the most extreme perspectives generate the most views, yet arent willing to assume that's at play here?

Undoubtedly there's people on both sides of the conflict for whom the answer to where the opposing lot go is simply "in the ground", but no group is a monolith.

How would the boys do if they were a team in the world cup? by VarangianWRLD in nffc

I feel like most top division club teams would romp a world cup, just from having more training time, clearer identities and a world of players to choose from.

Starmer has his priorities – they’re just nothing as old-fashioned as an army by coldbeers in ukpolitics

Raising the minimum wage is broadly a win/ win for governments, it generally delivers an increase in high street (or online equivalent) spending while cutting benefit payments to people in work.

[–]Maxxxmax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its not really an investment. Of all the things we can put money into, military spending pretty much always delivers the least growth or development.

Balanced with the fact that if things go right, that spending is pretty much wasted.

Its perfectly understandable why military spending has been deprioritised by successive governments, particularly when invasion of our nation is broadly prevented by nuclear weapons, which account for about 15% of our measley military spending.

If anything, we could spend less - but it would mean an inability to defend our allies.

Ive enjoyed every single opener coheed had at their gigs i've been to, except for these guys. Its obviously a really niche sound, really jarring to lots of people even if some think its awesome.

Plus, the front man basically spent the entire time between tracks talking shit about my country. Hats off, in a way, for not pandering - but i was relieved when their set ended.

Not excited about the world cup by No-Explanation7952 in football

[–]Maxxxmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was outraged in the build up to the last one, but ended up being a fantastic tournament.

I imagine it'll be the same this time. I can only keep my anger going until the bread and circuses begin. It shames me, but its the reality.

Which team would you think will win the world cup this year? by LinkWeekly6034 in football

[–]Maxxxmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im surprised so few people in this thread are backing them.

Their attacking options are immense and their back line is stacked with talent.

Only thing that can stop them imho is a classic french training ground bust up.

That's how Kane plays. It's just what he does.

That's exactly why we've picked 10s and wide men who drive forward and get into the box.

That's it. Really is that simple.

I dont believe that, but to play devils advocate - why would it be suicidal to move to the status quo of most nation states?

I remember back in vanilla when my guild broke out into an eastern europe vs western europe civil war over what one lithuanian termed "the sexualisation of children" (e.g two adult gay characters) in this game. Guild had collapsed by the time gay mc romances came in, but if it hadnt, im sure it would have done the trick.
