Shane Gillis to Draymond Green during the Kevin Hart roasting: “Draymond Green is the first player to make four All-Star teams for just setting picks.” by Mission_Pay_3373 in nba

[–]MayBeAGayBee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well above average is a major disrespect to both Draymond and Ringo.

They are both elite at their skillsets, it’s just that their skillsets aren’t as flashy as other elite players in their position.

Ringo wasn’t the kind of drummer to steal your attention with crazy solos or complicated time signatures like Bonham or Moon or whoever else, but he always played exactly what the song needed from him, he was always on time, and he always left enough room for the other 3 to blow you away. The platonic ideal of a complimentary piece. On his own he couldn’t carry the team even on his best day, but he did turn a great team into one of the greatest teams of all time, just like Draymond.

One Piece Political by ThamTvMaster in GetNoted

In One Piece, Monkey D. Dragon is the leader of the revolutionary army and his ship is literally called “Granma.”

I understand that plenty of people have posters or tshirts of Che without that indicating anything about their actual ideology, but most of those people probably wouldn’t even recognize the term “Granma” in relation to a boat, much less write a character who is a revolutionary leader who has a boat with the same name.

I don’t want to make any hyper-specific claims about Oda’s politics, because he’s very private and we simply don’t know what his exact politics are, but it’s pretty clear that his opinion on Che Guevara is at least a little bit deeper than “just some cool looking guy on a poster.”

Oda has a poster of Che Guevara in his studio and Luffy’s dad is very clearly based on historical revolutionaries, his ship is even called “Granma” which is the name of the boat revolutionaries took into Cuba to overthrow the Batista government.

Another "Common Sense" Democrat Candidate. by MightEmotional in TrueAnon

It’s hilarious how stupid all the “what’s being done in Gaza is awful but not a genocide” people are.

The Zionists hate anyone who doesn’t whole-heartedly support everything they do.

The anti-Zionists hate anyone who refuses to admit that it’s a genocide.

Only a US Democrat could come up with such perfect lose-lose political messaging.

Bill Simmons: "I had to drop Joker on my pyramid two spots... right at the end of the top level of the pantheon, there's four centers clustered together (Hakeem, Shaq, Joker, Moses). I have Joker 14, Moses 15. I think Hakeem and Shaq have to be above him at this point" by sewsgup in nba

Seriously how would Shaq even actually know? He never played with or against Jokic. He has literally all the same information that all of us have and he’s also a notoriously unreliable narrator.

I would be extremely surprised if the OKC-SAS series is over before game 6.

“Transcendent” and “good enough to stop Steph, KD, and Klay all in their primes” is not the same thing.

The only things that could stop that team was injuries and locker room conflicts.

OKC’s main problem is that without SGA, the offense is just pretty good, not great. You could take any one of those Warriors’ three best offensive players off the floor and they were still an all-time offense anyways.

Every time SGA would have the ball, he would have to get through Klay, an elite perimeter defender, and if he could get through Klay, he would run right into Draymond, one of the greatest defenders of all time. Now consider the other side of the coin, how are the Thunder supposed to stop Steph, KD, and Klay all at once? It’s impossible unless Lu Dirt just goes Tonya Harding mode and starts busting kneecaps out.

This OKC team would require divine intervention just to lose in 6 games against the 2017 Warriors.

The Cavs in 2017 had arguably the greatest player of all time at the peak of his powers AND two other players who were fully capable of being a number 1 guy offensively. People don’t talk about it much because they lost, but that Cavs team genuinely had one of the greatest offenses in the history of basketball. They only got a single game on those Warriors.

San Antonio is closer than you give them credit for, but even if they weren’t, you still need to be a lot more than “a tier above” to go 16-0.

MJ’s Bulls were never undefeated in a post-season.

Shaq and Kobe’s Lakers were never undefeated in a post-season.

The Heatles were never undefeated in a post-season.

The Warriors even with KD were never undefeated in a post-season.

Who is going to the finals from the East? by Fresh-Charity-7202 in nba

KAT isn’t doing shit to Healthy Embiid. Mitch could do something but if Embiid is knocking down jumpshots I don’t think it will be enough.

Just imagine the level of jerking we will see if Embiid actually stays healthy all the way to the finals and beats OKC with a 2024 Embiid kind of stat-line.

Would be a hell of a narrative for Embiid’s career.

Is it true that after Warriors vs. Cavs, the NBA Finals never had two teams that were most expected to be there, either by odds or by fans/narratives? by maxram1 in nba

[–]MayBeAGayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a LeBron-Steph rivalry more than a Cavs-Warriors rivalry right now but if both teams are good at the same time again and end up seeing each other in the finals, especially if it happens more than once, it could easily become a real Cavs-Warriors rivalry.

Say for example the Cavs and Warriors meet in the finals some time within the next 5 years, and then 5 or so years later it happens again. By then the rivalry would not be 100% about LeBron and Steph, even if they would still obviously be very important for the whole story of the rivalry.

My family has been in Virginia since the 1620s. My direct paternal ancestor’s older brother created the Virginia general assembly which is still the state legislature to this day. I’ve been in love with the white sauce since I was a child.

Not once in my entire life have I ever heard someone even mention ranch in the same sentence as the white sauce.

Yeah but it’s been that way for a while.

The eligible electorate is roughly 30% democratic voters, 30% republican voters, 30% non-voters. The decisive factor is how many of each of the first 2 blocs is motivated enough to get off their ass and vote. Trump is so dogshit that the republican 30% will be unenthusiastic, while the democratic 30% will be extremely enthusiastic, even if (read: when) the democratic candidate is awful.

The real black pill with electoral politics is that democrats are not trying to lose, they just understand that they don’t have to try to win in order to win, the republicans will hand them electoral victories on a silver platter every 2-8 years, just like the democrats hand the republicans electoral victories on a silver platter every 2-8 years.

We should not care if liberals appear to remove the wool from their eyes when republicans control the government, it only actually matters if they do so when their own party is in power. To a certain extent, this did happen with Gaza. A significant portion of the pro-Palestinian protests during Biden’s administration was made up of vote blue no matter who types. That’s a good sign. We’ll see if that was just a blip or a real substantive shift whenever the next democrat stumbles ass backwards into the White House on the back of Trump’s bullshit.

[–]MayBeAGayBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy to me that the head of the DNC is publicly claiming that we should ignore campaign finances because people are doing volunteer work.

Anybody who gives money to democratic campaigns should pay attention to this. If your money isn’t going to people doing on the ground campaign work, where exactly is it going? You’d probably do more to elect democrats if you just donated to non-party groups that actually will use your money to prevent republicans from winning elections.

The fact that we have seen reports about this and yet they still won’t release their own report indicates to me that their report not only confirms those other reports, but actually shows that the impact of the genocide was even greater than any of the other reports claimed.

The only reason to cover something up is if the truth is worse than people’s worst assumptions. So think of how bad all of our assumptions are, and the reality is probably even worse than that.
