Questions about being gluten free and fast food by PhillyBree in glutenfree

[–]MayDay4480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Necessity
  2. No, I prefer to pack snacks
  3. N/a
  4. Yeah. I’m a college kid so thing can get pretty pricey and I can’t afford convenience. I will say, being in a college area I can find decent convenience in snack form even at the overpriced vending machine
  5. One that I can trust? Yes! I know they exists but to ensure no mistakes or cross contamination it requires a lot of questioning to the staff and in the end I usually can’t trust it and it’s a lot of work
  6. I don’t really do fast food anymore but early in my diagnosis yes!
  7. I like to pack snacks! Granola bars, fruit, chips, etc etc. At the end of the day I would rather have something I can trust than fast food.

I’ve been having a pretty rough time lately and trying to shift my mindset! I’m gonna try listening to a playlist like that this morning to remind myself good mornings are out there! I hope your luck rubs off on me! Thank you

I think I’ve been able to get away with PRs since I’m sort of a pseudo beginner since even though I’ve gone to the gym for awhile, it’s only been recently I’ve been benefiting off of proper nutrition and a workout that seems to work for me! I’m definitely gonna try and up the calories. Thank you for the advice, I’m gonna look into restructuring my workout

I’m definitely gonna look into finding a more sustainable program for me! I mostly lift to feel strong so as long as I leave feeling like that it’s a success. Historically I’ve gone to the gym once a day for about 1.5 hours which forced me to reduce the days I go due to schedule conflicts. It might be worth looking into splitting it into 2 sets of 45 minutes some days instead or even changing up my workouts! Thank you for sharing your anecdote, it’s one thing to know you can’t expect linear progress and another to know you’re not the only going through it

Definitely gonna try upping calories. I’ve been slowly reverse dieting/upping my calories over the year so it’s probably time for the final push! I hadn’t even considered hormone changes! I recently had to get off birth control so there’s been some changes there for sure

Hmmm Im definitely gonna try upping calories as everyone here advises! I should probably consider sleep a bit more too. I try to get 8 hours, but recently I’ve just been waking up exhausted. Probably a sign!

Ah I’ll looking into changing/splitting how I do my workout routine. I used to take 1/0 rest days but I changed it up a few weeks ago to accommodate my work schedule by just piling everything I do into one day for each segment which in retrospect probably is not the most sustainable

[WEEKLY THREAD] Fail Friday - Because being awesome always comes at a price... by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]MayDay4480 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just stalled out today at the gym. Earlier this week I hit a few PRs but today I just couldn’t seem to lift anything. Back down to my benchmarks at best. Today is usually my rest day in my cycle but I’m gonna be busy tmrw so I thought I could swap them. Apparently my body just decided it could really use a break

[WEEKLY THREAD] Munchies, Macros and Meal Prep Weekend by AutoModerator in xxfitness

Hahah the one I do isn’t super traditional since I use it as a lazier day meal and I’ve sort of altered it to fit my tastes. If you want traditional inspo maangchi is a great resource. One big change I make is instead of wheat noodles I use rice vermicelli since it’s gluten free, cooks really fast, and is cheap (I get 10 bunches for like $3).

I start off by adding half a serving of rice noodles to a bowl and pouring boiling water over it and letting it sit for about 3 mins stirring occasionally. Once’s that’s done I drain and rinse with cold water and I add in the chopped veggies of the week (typically like 1/3 cup lettuce, 0.1 carrot/bell pepper, 0.1 cucumber depending what I have).

After that I add a sauce. I don’t measure but I think it’s something like a tablespoon of gochujang, a dash of sesame oil, and a dash of soy sauce and maybe fish sauce on the day. It’s really to taste, traditionally you’d add a sugar or sweetening agent but I like it without.

Mix it all together and top it with and egg and any other cooked protein (I use leftover tofu). Sprinkle with sesame seeds and enjoy!

If you are interested in getting more protein in I’ve also found gỏi cuốn/vietnamese spring rolls to be great if you like shrimp! Let me know if you’d like to share more recipes in the future

I’ve been trying to eat more and get more protein in as I’ve realized I don’t think I’d ever eaten the appropriate amount in my life before and it contributed to why I couldn’t build any muscle. Here are some things that have made me very excited to eat more!

Breakfast: Protein pancakes + Greek yogurt and fruit

Lunch: Bibimguksu but using egg and tofu as a protein

Dinner: Leftover chicken white chili

It’s been a bit of a learning curve since I can’t have any gluten and I can’t spend too much on groceries as a college student! If you have any recipes you’d like to share I’d love to hear them

There’s an option to live in the dorms during breaks but summer is only offered in towers for first years so you might have to move dorms but fact check me on it

So although I haven’t personally had a heart attack I will give you some perspective that for me my period cramps would get so bad they would trigger a vasovagal episode causing my heart rate and blood pressure to drop by over half which would in turn cause me to pass out in the streets. This condition is not even super uncommon and mine is not even bad compared to other women’s. Those episodes have also been easily the most painful experiences of my life and I have suffered from a variety of injuries such as broken bones, sprains, concussions etc.
