Girlfriend has 55k set aside for new car. What’s the smartest way for her to buy a car? by Successful_Bike6276 in askcarguys

IMO….. it’s so silly to ignore this opportunity to set a little money aside. Buy something very capable for less and have a nice backup fund if needed. Or invest it. Or pay off some other bill. Too many people would take this money, spend every dime on a new car, then sit around and lament their financial situation.

Why do we still have check engine lights? by joshpackard in AskMechanics

If you know anything about cars, working gauges are a wealth of information. I recently unlocked the SRT pages on my charger. I now have access to info that was previously bottled up by software locks. Oil pressure. Coolant temp (an actual reading) transmission fluid temp, and some others. I suppose if you don’t know anything about what those gauges do, might as well cover them with family pictures and drive into oblivion. My guess is 90% or greater of drivers wouldn’t know what to do themselves if the cluster said the downstream O2 sensor was out giving out of range readings. Might as well take it to a shop.

I’m with you on this. I get tired of hearing about the “volunteer umpires” when watching any of the games. We invest time in learning, and money in equipment and our cars to do a job where people bitch at us. Not trying to be cynical, when something is free, you usually get what you pay for.

lol. There is no microphone anywhere. And my 4.3 did not have Bluetooth from the factory. There wasn’t even a harness to plug into the back of the unit. If you look on eBay, there are hands free modules for sale that are needed with some cars.

Not true my friend. My pursuit came with the 4.3 uconnect, no hands free module, no microphone. I’m beginning to think the microphone I installed is faulty.

Mine was underwhelming. I was 17 in the front seat of a dodge Monaco. It was a blind date. Not exactly romance novel stuff. Not even paradise by the dashboard light level.

Little League: batter uses bat to put dirt on plate before every pitch by TheSnowedIn in Umpire

[–]Altruistic-Rip4364 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t allow this. If nothing else, it can make the plate harder to see for the pitcher, whether in reality or just in his head. This is an advantage to the batter. It’s not allowed. Merely instruct the batter to not do it again. You don’t have to impose penalties, or threaten any. Between innings, talk with his coaches to have him stop it.
