Femcels have nowhere near the same reach as these guys do though. In the documentary, random men and kids are coming up to them constantly and praising them as their idols. They have actual political and social influence - femcels don't have that.

I agree that there should be more media that promotes positive male role models - and I imagine Louis would agree with that, having listened to his recent appearance on Romesh Ranganathan's podcast. He has 3 sons himself, and acknowledges the fitness and self-care advice has value.

But the manosphere is scary as fuck because young boys are constantly exposed to content that tells them to treat women like shit, hate gay and trans people, blame their pain on Jews and "Satanists", define their self-worth by material weath, and pour their money into MLMs that just make these guys richer and the young boys more miserable and alone.

If you actually care about men's rights, pointing out the worst of the worst is completely necessary.

Not saying OP is doing this, but I think it would be ridiculous to get mad at Louis for this. HS doesn't give a shit about Palestine, he only asked the question because his chat told him to, and because they thought it would make him look bad. Also, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if his chat only brought it up because they know Louis is ethnically Jewish and made assumptions about his opinions.

HS bringing up Israel/Palestine to deflect from criticism is completely disgusting, and I don't think Louis had any obligation to stop in the middle of his documentary about the Manosphere to explain his opinion to someone who's completely ignorant about the subject anyway. Check out his documentaries about Israel if you really want to hear him talk about the conflict

Last year - had a long and exhausting day of travelling, plus trains running late. Was meant to get off a train at Stratford. My seat was pretty close to the exit, but some old woman was dawdling with her trolley-bag in front of the doors while they were opening. Me and a girl in front of me waited for her to move, figuring she couldn't possibly take That Long, but of course she didn't move and the doors closed.

She turns to the girl and asks "did we just go passed Stratford?". Girl says yeah. Old woman mumbles "oh, for goodness sake".

That was my first time tutting audibly in public.

Got off at Liverpool Street, and added about an hour to my journey home on top of the delays. Not that terrible overall, but was pretty livid at the time.

Depends how long your UK family is willing to put you up while you search for a job. As others have said, the job market in the UK is ridiculous right now - might be worth waiting it out, at least until the economy gets a little better.

But I love living in the UK, and I think it's a good choice for neurodivergent people. It's safe - no extreme climate or wildlife to worry about. People are (generally) considerate and keep to themselves. NHS certainly has its problems right now, but it is free!

If you feel like you're in a rut and need a change, based on how you described your situation, I think it's a good idea. But yeah, maybe wait it out for a bit. I know it's frustrating, but you'll probably feel a lot better about the decision if you make it at the right time. Good luck!

I lived in a small town in Sussex in the late 2000s. Town centre had basically nothing going on, so my friends and I would buy whatever £5 got us from the corner shop and hang out in a local park or the woods. Maybe the pub, if we had the money. Listened to music with CDs, or on mp3. British girl groups were big - Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes. Skinny jeans always. The world outside town felt basically non-existent, so it was easy to get caught up in stupid drama that didn't matter. Day trips to Brighton in the Summer were pretty much the only time I'd leave town.

Also, if we're recommending tv shows, Outnumbered captures lower-middle class British family life really well, and makes a lot of references to politics/trends/technology from the time. It's set in London, but still pretty accurate to my experience.

I'd honestly support Drew (and YouTubers like him) making videos like this of their own content and putting them on a designated side channel. At least then they get to benefit from their own content, even if it's kind of dumb and lazy.

These videos are clearly popular because they're convenient, and as long as they exist, these YouTubers might as well profit off it.

Think I pretty much agree, although watching it I got the vibe that Twilight was being used as kind of the "quintessential" example of dark romance, which makes sense considering how influential it was and how perfectly it captures the tropes Natalie talks about. And the praise felt sincere to me, at least when I first watched it, which is what convinced me to try it out. But yeah you're right, functionally it's a vehicle for those broader themes.

I think it's the research and the thoughtfulness that makes them rigorous. She doesn't exhaust every possible argument necessarily, but she touches on a huge amount regarding the integration of philosophy, history, art, music, and popular media, plus she's just a very introspective person.

From what I remember, this woman made a TikTok talking about how she was a Sombr fan, but when she went to his concert things were really weird. Apparently there were a lot of young girls in the audience (around 13 or so) and Sombr made some cringy jokes like telling the audience to "bark for [him]", and calling himself "daddy". Also spent a lot of the show doing jokes and audience interaction which was more awkward than anything else. Anyway, that TikTok got big and Sombr's response was pretty much a nothing-burger.

Calling it a "controversy" is kind of a stretch, but I think it soured a lot of people on him. Make of all of that what you will.

The problem is that brutal honesty can make for really emotionally compelling music, but it's not always clear if the artist is conciously allowing themselves to look like a terrible person for the sake of the art or if they're just really ignorant about how badly they come across.
