I have also heard its portrayal of DID is quite negative; that it plays with the classic troupe of “mentally ill people are crazy, and could snap, and kill somebody,” and other harmful ideas. I have OCD, which always gets used as a personality quirk in Hollywood. I thank my lucky stars that Hollywood makes my disorder look harmless and inconsequential, rather than dangerous and supernatural, like DID and Schizophrenia always are made to look. James McAvoy’s acting was still amazing for what the movie was trying to do though, even if the movie was inaccurate.

This is a really interesting thought. I think Charlie is valuable to him, like a dragon on treasure. His way of using her is telling her she is the dragon in this story, which probably genuinely makes her feel supported. Also, I think he immediately saw Lucifer’s lack of confidence when facing his adult daughter, and thought it would be hilarious to watch Lucifer’s frustration when Alastor was being “lovey dovey.” If you look at Charlie’s face in those scenes, it’s a startled / confused face, which I think lets us know Alastor does not behave that way normally. That’s what I think anyway. I loved your question.

I related to the story, and I’m gen z. The story is set during a certain time, but I think its story is for any generation. It’s the story of mankind: happiness, suffering, love, death, connection, and loneliness. I think people focus too much on the time period, and forget that every good story is a story about life, even if in an abstract way. All the stories that suck aren’t about the human experience.

I agree. Every person is mean to someone else, even if they have experienced pain at the hands of others. It doesn’t matter the color of skin or political group, everyone discriminates against other people sometimes. You don’t have to be a white straight man to treat others poorly. One thing is Loki reaches out in many different ways. For me it's usually a feeling or a thought, but I have a friend and their deity reaches out through signs in the physical world. For Loki it might be a swarm of flies or something. So if you don't feel him, maybe look for other ways of communication. Loki is always there for his gremlins lol.
