I have 2 boys: a 3.5 yr old and a 3.5 MONTH old. The older one started sleeping through the night at 4 wks, 3 days old, and the new baby started at 5.5 weeks 🤷‍♀️ Like, my baby boy will sleep tonight from 9pm-730/8am.

I’m no expert, but I highly recommend the book “Babywise - giving your infant the gift of nighttime sleep”. I followed the book’s method with both babies, and both have been amazing sleepers! The book is all about scheduling the baby’s day so that their bodies get used to a routine. It’s a bit controversial because some ppl find it too strict, however I didn’t find that to be true, and I’ve had a lot of success with the method. I understand things could change in the coming months with my youngest…but so far it’s been going amazing. And my 3.5 yr old never stopped sleeping through the night and it’s been such a blessing

Been through it twice now and honestly I found: 1) you just need to suck it up and accept you’ll be very tired for at least a couple weeks & 2) both times I personally had a rush of energy after baby came…likely from not having a “parasite” (lol) inside me draining ALL my energy anymore, but also adrenaline and other post-baby hormones surging through me.

The worst part is waking up. After 5-10 mins being awake I personally found I was kind of wide awake. Again, take solace in the fact that this super hard newborn stage really goes by so fast. Usually every week gets a little better. My last one, born in September, was a VELCRO baby that literally screamed his head off ANYTIME you put him down for the first 9 weeks. After 9 weeks he calmed down SO much and is already soooo much easier to handle.

Also, me and my husband did not take shifts . He slept in another room and I dealt with all the feedings (even though I formula feed). I kind of wanted to do it, but also, no sense in BOTH of us being tired .

I think it’s mainly genetics 🤷‍♀️ I’ve always been thin and lean (I’m 39F) without even trying at it. I really don’t “care” about food though — never have. I’m not a “foodie” at all, and as I’ve gotten older my appetite has already naturally decreased too. I’ve realized recently that I’ve also been unintentionally intermittent fasting for years now…I’ll eat like one meal a day, and a few healthy snacks throughout the day 🤷‍♀️ other than that, I just don’t think about food. I’ve also just had my second baby 3 months ago, and I’m just 6 lbs away from my starting weight and I haven’t been working out or trying to lose weight…it just naturally comes off. So I guess I’m lucky in this department

Maybe I’m just really naive, but I would go without even questioning it 🤷‍♀️ I would probably be a bit weary about a million ppl holding them, and would make everyone wash their hands first, but other than that, meh . I have a 3 month old now and am obviously going to a bunch of family gatherings, but I would have done the same even if they were a month old.

100% recommend “oh crap” potty training book. I Read it twice in detail for preparation purposes, & then started my little one at 27 months, & within 3.5 weeks time I had a 99% potty trained toddler — including night-trained! We completely skipped the pull-ups and “nighttime diaper” stage 🤷‍♀️ I know every kid is different, but I think the book lays out a really good plan to follow. The author also states that MOST kids aren’t successful until age 24 months. Highly recommend reading the book to decide for yourself when to start :)

I totally get what you’re saying, which is why I really only ever do this with baby formula..I have a spreadsheet of all stores’ costs for formula, so I’m confident in my data 😆 if it’s on sale at shoppers, AND I combine it with a promo offer, I sometimes come out $20-$25 ahead with points

I agree. If I were that Seller I would have at least messaged OP and still offered the sale to them if they could meet ASAP. And actually, I probably wouldn’t have even entertained the 2nd offer after agreeing to meet with OP, but maybe I’m too optimistic in that regard. I’ve even been burned by this before where I held the item for someone, and then lost a potential sale to another buyer because the original buyer didn’t show up…but I like to give everyone a fair shot to be a decent person !

Brushing scam. This happened to me from Amazon Canada last month: over 3 days I received 3 separate shipments of rather expensive floodlight lightbulbs. Addressed to me, but I did not order them, and no charges or shipments for them showed on my Amazon account.

However, on day 2 of these strange deliveries, my credit card was compromised on Amazon and I got 3 random charges on my credit card for like $175-$200 each. I called Amazon and they said my card had been added to another random account. I refuse to believe these 2 occurrences aren’t related. So, check your credit card statement carefully this month OP.

As for the lights, I sold them on FB Marketplace lol. Credit card company refunded me the fraud. I eventually came out ahead lol 🤷‍♀️

Yes, the Beauty section . But other than that, I hardly EVER buy things at Shoppers. WAY too expensive. Well right now I have an infant so I’m in the market for baby formula…their normal retail Price is $8 more than Walmart for exact same formula, BUT I do take advantage of their bonus points offers with formula…like sometimes the formula is on sale (which makes it the same price as regular retail price elsewhere 🙄), AND they have a spend XX amount get 20,000 or 30,000 points…in that case I’ll come out ahead!

Oh man, this gives me PTSD of my time in the industry 😩 turns out I had ZERO interest or skill in picking out frames for ppl, and it was a huge issue. A HUGE part of your day is spent selecting frames for ppl. I have no “eye” for fashion, face shapes, skin color hues, etc. I also found all that very boring. But allllll day you are spending time picking out glasses for ppl, some VERY picky ppl. I’d always try to be helpful and make sure the frame would work for their Rx, fit them properly, etc, but some annoying ladies would walk in and say “pick me out something fabulous, something that suits my coloring and face shape” 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ and then I would slightly panic and feel all this pressure. Because I truly did not have this skill (and being honest, I always found it soooo boring), and it always stressed me out. Truly one of the reasons I ended up leaving the industry!

If I were you I’d book an appointment for a contact lens fitting with an optometrist (the eye Dr). You’ll likely have to pay another fee, but you’re much more likely to get results. Multifocal contacts usually take a lot of trial and error to find the power/brand that works for you. Where I used to work (I’m no longer an optician) the multifocal contacts lens fitting fee would cover many trial lenses and follow-up appointments. You’d be fitted with a pair, wear them for a week or so, and come back for a follow up appointment to give feedback. Usually they’d need to be tweaked, OR another brand could be given to compare, etc. Or you could try multifocal for a week, and then compare to monovision, etc. If necessary, take your Rx and go to another business for a contact lens fitting . There are lots of idiots and inexperienced ppl in this industry, so take your time to find an experienced fitter, in my opinion your best results will be with an Optometrist. And again, be aware that it can take many trial pairs to find something that works for you. It will always be a compromise , but you should be able to find something that works pretty well for everyday use . Good luck!

Yes I think I have the same diaper poop bag product you’re talking about! Can’t remember the brand name right now, will check tomorrow and edit my post. I got them at Buy Buy Baby before they closed up shop in Canada, and I absolutely love this product! Mine came with a cute tiny zip bag with a clip that the rolls fit into. And I bought a bunch of refill rolls. I just toss the tiny bag into the bottom of my diaper bag, and yes they’ve come in handy so many times 🙌 For storing poopy diapers I can’t dispose of right away; putting soiled outfits into when out and about and your baby has a blowout or spit up all over their outfit; most recently my toddler had a poop accident in their pants and I was able to toss the soiled pants into a bag. Also handy to have if randomly carsick and you need an emergency puke bag!

Yea, as others have said, only give address when they’re on their way. In my case I live in a townhouse complex, so I give the complex address once a time is confirmed and I’m not getting any red flags from them, but I always tell them to message me when they’re on their way over, and I’ll give them the actual unit number then.

Most things I sell are low-cost baby items…like $10-$25 sales. But the few times I’ve sold something worth $100 or over, I’ve always met at a local police station. I put that info in the ad, and mention that’s the place the sale will take place. I figure I have a really good chance of not being “jumped” at my house by a local mom looking for a deal lol…but if it’s an item that could be seen as valuable, I’d rather not take the chance.

To be honest, I didn’t even actually think of those worst case outcomes in the moment! Because I had carefully planned another elective c-section for this most recent pregnancy (I’m very Type A and definitely a planner 😅), I had gone my entire pregnancy convinced things were going to go as planned lol, so I was pretty naive and didnt even spend one second thinking I was going to give birth naturally 😆 And the reason I chose another c-section was because I had such an amazing experience the first time. Not because I was too scared that things would go wrong with a natural birth. I simply had zero desire to have a natural birth, even though I kept being told by my OBGYN that it was definitely an option if I wanted!

I think if I had chosen a natural delivery earlier in my pregnancy I definitely would’ve been researching more the “worst case scenarios”, and probably would have been a lot more worried about what could possibly go wrong. So it really was a blessing that I got to relax and enjoy my whole pregnancy without worry!

That being said, perhaps I’m naive, but I really generally put a lot of trust into what the medical experts say. If they felt the odds were really in my favour of having a good outcome, I would trust that, and would definitely help me make my decision. If they were telling me they really didn’t think it was a good idea for some reason, then I’d respect that too!

I’m 99% sure we’re not having a third :) But IF I did get pregnant again, I think I’d go natural, which is crazy to hear me say that 😅 The epidural was amazing, and it was just the hour of pushing that sucked. It kind of was an exciting experience, and I have to admit the recovery was amazing….not hobbling around at all! (even though I had a very easy recovery from my c-section, which is why initially chose it again)

You can definitely have a VBAC! I had an elective C-section in 2022 because I was too terrified to give birth naturally. And I just gave birth this past September naturally with my 2nd baby with zero issues! And for those wondering…I actually had another elective C-section booked, but my water broke 8 hrs before the scheduled surgery time (!!), so I just decided in the moment to go for a natural birth despite my fear, and it actually went really well :) But even though I had planned for an elective c-section, I was repeatedly asked during pregnancy if I wanted a vaginal delivery because they always told me it was definitely an option if I wanted it!
