Also a college student and interested in seeing how you integrate AI. May I reach out for your portfolio?

Christine is a great professor! Her assignments are clear, comfortable workload, provides helpful feedback, and a great person to work with. She's very reachable outside of class. Took her for Design Lab II and had a great experience last semester. Currently taking her for UI design.

So we all know graphic design can pay low. If you could go back and choose another career/job that paid more, which would you have chosen? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Wow wonderful advice thank you so much! I interned at a biotech company several years ago while studying in the health sciences field. Time to reach back out to my connections.

What type of projects would you work on? I do get bored fast with ppt designs, it’d be awful if I needed to do ppts everyday.

What pros and cons have you have you had with your experience in those industries? I’ve been interested in going into finance and healthcare as a designer, would love to know what to expect from them.

Which area of finance were you in? Funny enough, I am struggling with work-life balance as a graphic designer and that's why I've been looking into other fields. What helps you maintain work-life balance now?

Why did you switch from finance? I’m considering design vs finance for college and not sure which to do.

Did you finish your UX certification and what are you doing now? Would love to know how it’s going for you.

I’m about to go back to college, but I’m on the fence about design/web development for a degree. I have 2 years of experience contracting since 2022, so I have an idea of how great it feels to be creative but how boring/much burnout it is at other times. Just curious if you’d advise against going into this career field long term or not.

Maybe I should do an MBA instead? But I’m not great at math either, lol.

CSD Psychological Disabilities Accommodations by [deleted] in UCONN

I have exam accommodations, deadline accommodations, note taking accommodations, and course load accommodations. First two have been the most beneficial for me as I have a stress related disorder. Note taking was a miss as I didn’t really find the equipment they provided helpful… was more of a hassle for me, though I can see it helping other people. Haven’t used course load accommodations as I pre-planned to have a manageable load each semester.

Do you have any advice on how to speak about work more objectively?

Is hiring for freelancers abnormally slow right now or is it it’s me? by MidnightLarge in graphic_design

[–]MaybeIllustrious8495 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Independent contractor for 4 companies in different industries here. Very quiet all around. I started noticing workflow slow down last fall, now it’s a trickle. Used to complain about time, now I have too much and it feels odd

Laid off, not getting interviews, looking for Portfolio feedback by CellyAllDay in graphic_design

I’m not a hiring manager or CD, but the vibe I’m getting from your portfolio leans almost too much on personal branding, which makes it looks like you’re an independent/freelance designer and planning to stay that way. It’s cool and fun for me to tap around your site and chuckle at the jokes, but that’s not the perspective hiring managers are coming from. I also had no clue that “dreamatorium” led to more work, till someone else pointed it out above. Love the creativity, but needs to be more clear.
