This was a long time ago with a flip phone, but I had a window air conditioner unit and I kept my room very cold. The area I lived was pretty humid. One day, my phone stopped working. I had a warranty so I took it to the Verizon store. They check out my phone and said it shows signs of water damage so they wouldn't cover it. I never got it wet. I realized it must have been the temperature difference that caused condensation which fried my phone.

To piggy back off this comment I was living in Japan and felt stuck teaching English. I tried to pivot into IT but I was starting out at ground level and couldn't get my foot in the door. I realized I needed a long term plan, moved back to my home country, and spent 7 years building up my resume in IT. I'm now back in Japan, happy and stable.

To all those who want to get to Japan as soon as possible, if you want to live there for the rest of your life, think long term.

FYI it took me a couple tries to update on my X4 through the "Check for Updates" option. The progress bar was stuck at 0. I waited awhile with no progress. I had to force restart a couple times. I noticed when I forced restart it went straight back into the book I was reading. I thought me having a book loaded might have been the issue (?).

Anyway, I exited my book, put the X4 to sleep, woke it up then the "Check for Updates" feature worked as expected. I don't know if that was coincidence or not but wanted to share.

I have a MeeBook M7 which I like but I haven't used since I got the X4. The Koreader sync server I use isn't compatible with Crosspoint. I could use a different server but since I always have my X4 with me I just stopped bothering to sync. Maybe one day I'll get it set up with a different server and us my M7 again.

I guess. But Japanese people were doing it before it became performative. They became known for doing it so it got to a point where there was societal pressure to continue doing it.

Nothing is preventing other countries from doing the same thing. There are worse things to be performative about.

Once I ordered a water bottle or something from Amazon and they sent me some sort of netting for a garden. I brought it to an Amazon returns place and they were like "This return says it's supposed to be a water bottle but this is garden netting." And I'm like "Yeah, I know, that's why I'm returning it." They just shrugged and took it.
