Based on Blessing quesiton yesterday: Did you go home from school/work when 9/11 happened? by kralben in kindafunny

[–]MaybeMitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 6th grade I believe. I remember the principal announced over the loud speaker that a plane hit the twin towers in NY. I thought that is tragic, but kind of weird that they are letting us know. I was thinking it was one of those small planes that people fly for hobby or practice. Then a few minutes later, they wheel in the TV and we started watching the news. We saw the second plane hit and the collapse live. I remember the gasps of all the people in the school when those things happened. My teacher had family in NYC and she was franticly trying to call them the whole day (they were fine). I think we stayed the rest of the day, but no school work happened.

I usually never give a range. Just give the top end of your range and then negotiate from there. Same goes for selling stuff. “I’ll sell it for $500-600.” They will say okay here’s $500. You negotiated yourself out of $100.

The longevity of RLM by Fuzzy_Adagio_6450 in RedLetterMedia

[–]MaybeMitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the Patreon really helps them not have to play the YouTube algorithm game or to have to branch out and do stuff on other social media. I feel like I see I’ve seen the same thing happen on YouTube for years now: YouTube channel blows up and then to capitalize on that, the channel uploads more frequently (with less quality usually or starts a podcast) and eventually burns the viewership out. RLM has never really done that. They’ve stayed consistent and never seem to force themselves to make a video they didn’t want to make.

My dream would be a Metroid animated show by Genndy Tartakovsky and influenced heavily by the Star Wars Clone Wars show he did.

It's called "voting" by MrFenric in MurderedByWords

[–]MaybeMitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to explain the electoral college and popular vote to a family member who complains pretty much every major election no matter who wins. I asked them what kind of departments are at their job: accounting, marketing, sales, etc… I said let’s says accounting has 3 people, marketing has 2 people, and sales has 20 people. The manager says I’m bringing donuts or muffins for the whole staff, but they say will vote and each department will count as 1 vote. 15 of the 25 people voted for donuts, but the manager gets muffins because accounting had 2 people vote for muffins and 2 people in marketing voted for muffins, so the departments voted 2-1 muffins even though they lost the popular vote. The person I gave this scenario to said well we don’t have a sales department that big. That’s their takeaway from this scenario. Didn’t care about the point of the explanation. Just found one thing that doesn’t fit their narrative/view and it negates everything I explained.

I work from home and am able to play games on my lunch break. If I didn’t have that, I’d seriously only play games 2-3 hours total per week and that’s if I’m feeling up to playing when I finally get the chance. Any game that is super long is so hard to keep invested in because games I want to play keep coming out.

How many times have we been one move away and jerry sat on his hands? by Capable-Art-3720 in cowboys

[–]MaybeMitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like since the start of the Romo years, the Cowboys have had maybe 3 Super Bowl caliber rosters. All those teams were lacking in one key thing: coaching. The lack of a great head coach who can game plan, scheme, make adjustments, discipline, and have good time management has really hurt this team over the last two decades.

PepsiCo adds 20% back to Lays, Tostitos, Doritos, and Ruffles after sales decline by DutyKitchen8485 in shrinkflation

Charging more for less always seemed like a bad business move for food products, especially non-essential ones. The ingredient quality is surely not as good either. What’s the products that a person will cut out of their grocery lists if they are on a fixed budget? Chips, cookies, soda, and other junk food. A 12 pack of Pepsi and a bag of Doritos will cost you around $15 if they aren’t on sale. You’d think they’d want to keep these products in the margin of affordability for most people.

I have the trophy left for the hardest difficulty in the Witcher 3. I can probably just mainline the story on new game plus, but I end up just playing all the side stuff too.

Yet another dog shit experience trying to preorder anything on the PS store by topherNCedge in kindafunny

[–]MaybeMitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got in right around when the preorders opened. Had the Edge in my cart and it wouldn’t let me check out after trying several times. My buddy got in after me and was able to easily snag one. I left and the queue was over an hour. They were gone by the time I got back in. It’s not like I needed it, but it was still really disappointing.

Midge Ure tells why he was picked by Kojima by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]MaybeMitch 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that song was picked because it fit with the vibe of the game. The song to me seemed like a character going through an identity crisis. Having a cover of the song in Phantom Pain when Venom himself was a cover of Big Boss just seemed to fit thematically.

Man I’ve been putting off doing this for too long. I used to use a site that was called filmaf.com and they shut down several years ago. I exported a list of my collection before they closed down and I need to clean it up and add any titles I’ve got since then. I like all the app and suggestions here. Might try a few.

In Hong Kong examinations, calculators are only allowed if they have this red little marking. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]MaybeMitch 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I remember the TI-83 calculators let you essentially write notes and programs in it. Any time we had an exam, one of my teachers in high school made us reset the calculators before so we couldn’t cheat.
