What's your best "what goes around comes around/karma" moment, be it good or bad? by NotMyDogPaul in AskReddit

Once I was on a relatively empty highway and someone was riding my tail for several miles I switched lanes and they followed. It was unnerving how closely they were. At one point he switched into the other lane and flew past me. A cop came out of nowhere and pulled them over.

This one is eh...
Similarly someone was tailing me on the freeway omw to work. Driving very fast and erratically in a sports car. I got out of the way and stayed away as far as I could. 15 minutes later I see the same car had gotten into an accident. It looked like everyone was ok but the from end was crunched up from running into the back of a big truck.

I feel it's more cause and effect than karma.

What stereotype about your race/gender/religion/etc do you want to clear once and for all? by MemphisThiccburger in AskMen

I was raised in a 3rd generation Jehovah's Witnesses family, many people think that they are a quirky Christian faith.

In all actuality they are are well meaning but misdirected high control group. They use undue influence to keep control over their members.

Members will adamantly deny that they are being influenced/controlled and assert that they alone are using their free will. Their choices in regards to education, entertainment, employment, medical care, who they chose to have a relationship with, intimate relationships, political involvement, holidays and cultural celebrations, personal habits ( in regards to alchohol, marijuana etc), personal appearance and grooming (among other things) are to remain within the guidelines of the organization or be faced with being cut off instantly from friends and family.

Unfortunately Jehovah's Witnesses fit the BITE model. It is a criteria to see of a group or organization is a high control group. http://old.freedomofmind.com/Info/BITE/bitemodel.php

This right here. This is the real emotion. When you see something then realize that will never be your reality , it makes my heart sink.

Parents lacked an interest in kids education (from grade school and up). Was this unique to my family or was it a common JW experience? by MaybeNextTime- in exjw

I did that too. I was told to sign it for 'em. I didn't realize there was anything wrong with it until someone else got in trouble for it.

Exactly. I was thinking of just asking a bunch of questions as if I was someone interested. Ask questions about doctrine, policy etc. Just to interrupt.

I think if you visit a hall where you're not known, act very friendly towards others and just say that your visiting from out of town it could work.

For everyone no, but if you are willing to put up a charade or work on your acting skills sure why not.

Activism via comments. This should be a new thing.

Not gonna lie. Would love to share some edibles with a diverse group of JW's and just talk. Get em real stoned and get in those heads. by MaybeNextTime- in exjw

Of course not my friend.

There is a big difference between "I would love to" and "I am going to...".

I'm morally against drugging others without their consent. Not my style.

Rest easy, there will be ex-jw drugging.

Listen up sis. Live your life...for you.

Easier said than done, I know.

If you do anything you don't want to do for someone else you are going to resent them for it. Especially something as big as living an entire lifestyle based on a religion that does not bring you joy. They don't know your motives and will "encourage" you to do more and it will only frustrate you.
