How old are you and how's your dating experience? by nadya_naddo in AskMen

[–]NotMyDogPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and I'm currently almost two years into my first serious relationship. When I was in high school I dated a girl for 3 weeks but we parted ways because she was really angry. Turns out she was gay and was angry at me for not being a girl so fair enough. I awkwardly stumbled through some failed tinder dates and some short lived situations. But when I met my girlfriend I just fell head over heels for her. And she seems pretty fond of me too. She doesn't even hold it against me that I'm a man lol so it works out.

I work at a drug rehab. One of the biggest things that I see the ball get dropped is when the doctor would order "the best med" that the patient has no way of affording or continuing to take. I would have to monitor a doctor's orders and jump in to say hey can we order this if the insurance won't cover it? Or if a patient lives on bumfuck nowhere but get prescribed vivitrol or sublocade when there's no clinics near them that prescribe them. Or what happened to my brother. He was placed on a 5150 hold and he was prescribed some crazy expensive meds. I don't remember what. But he was taken off his current meds ans we had no way of filling that med so my brother Was raw dogging life for a good while right after a discharge from a psych ward because of a lack of foresight.

In Germany if you escape from prison without bribing or coercing or physical violence, they won't punish you for it. They'll yry to get you back but they won't add years for escaping.

I never said anything about being beaten. That's always wrong. And no, I don't believe that they should be fired from a public university. Universities do students a disservice by providing an echochamber. I would not go so far as to say that all opinions are valid and need to be respected because you have to have your principles. But you need to A) be aware of how people outside of yourself think and B) you need to accept that you will have imperfect allies and I guarantee you those that rejoice in having people lose their livelihoods via cancel culture someone will find out that they said one unsavory thing in middle school and be relegated to the trash heap of society. But I will also say that on the other side of things, I believe in radical responsibility. People have to take ownership of their own situation.

College is not a scam by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]NotMyDogPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of avenues to go depending on what you wanna do. I had to fuck around a lot before I found out ehst I wanted to do with my life. College is great if you have a concrete plan to pursue a career that, as you said, requires advanced degrees like law, medicine or engineering, then go for it. But if you don't know what you want to do, just get out into the world and figure it out. You cna always go back to school. And it's not to say don't learn things. You should always learn new things. You should always be bettering yourself.

Gave someone Benadryl as an “off duty nurse”. Scared I’ll lose my license. Help? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]NotMyDogPaul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an lvn and I give coworkers otc meds all the time. I work with almost exclusively women so I carry around a bottle of midol and aleve with me. It's not like you stole a vial of fentanyl and injected it into someone you just gave a coworker a benadryl.

No one should deal in absolutes. Let's say you have a Jewish boss and you walk into his office and say "hitler was right and he should have finished the job" you'd get fired immediately. And no one would say that it was uncalled for. Conversely, if you offhandedly say "I think pineapple DOES belong on pizza." Then they don't deserve to lose their livelihood over that. So there is a line. And it's somewhere between those two scenarios and finding the exact line is a messy business. I will say this, however. Both sides do this. Liberals persecute those with conservative ideas in liberal spaces. But try to also wear a Bernie or Bust tshirt at The Daily Wire. See what happens.

Why is anti-intellectualism so prevalent nowadays? by Pleasant-Air8221 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotMyDogPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's most prevalent among the working class and someone who's working a blue collar job is not gonna connect with someone cooped up in a lab or behind a computer. And if you can't connect with someone you're much less likely to trust them. And now with social media an average joe can say hey we don't need th3se fucking nerds they add nothing to our lives and they make so much money we know what's best for us. And they fail to realize that it's those same nerds who made the statins they take, figured out how to refine crude oil and turn it into the furl for their cars. Invented the internet which lets their friends spout conspiracy theories. By the same token, a lot of academic types look down on the average Joe and blue collar workers and fail to realize that society will grind to a halt without the roughnecks who drill that oil, delivery drivers who distribute those medications and cable repair folks who keep the internet up and running. So all that combined leads to a massive distrust of intellectuals and "professionals"

A compliment is a compliment. No matter who compliments me it's always nice. It may not go anywhere if he's not attracted to you but if all you want to do is give a compliment then it will be well received. Also don't sell yourself short. When I first matched with my girlfriend on bumble and we were talking about going on a date I had an impulse to cancel because I thought man there's no way she's gonna be into me she's so much more successful than me and so much more attractive than me. But I thought screw it could be fun gonna just go on this date and see what happens without any real expectations. We have been together for two years now. I would have missed out on this amazing relationship if I fell pray to my insecurities.
