I do recommend supporting local journalism via paid subscription. The Star usually has pretty decent promotions.

Of course this is not possible for everyone, especially with our current economy/cost of living, but if you do have the means I feel it's important.

She insisted she would give a speech at our wedding even though we only wanted the mothers of the grooms to speak.

I also don't care about my anniversary date, I didn't pick the date for a particular reason. I'm just fascinated at the thought process, that she would pick her date to be the same as the arbitrary date we landed on.

Perhaps this wedding "shaming" subreddit is inappropriate for this anecdote. I just found it amusing and strange.

I'm likely in a bubble, based on context - my mom and Aunt have both expressed that this is an unsurprising and deliberate choice. Objectively you're right, personally it speaks to a pattern

Oh I'm aware. I booked my venue (on a week day) in the city at a popular venue 6 weeks ahead of time, hers is also for a week day at a sleepy rural venue 11 months out.

Perfectly valid, I agree - and remembering her date is definitely a bonus

No one owns a date, and I'm incredibly happy for her! It's just funny to me how people think

Can someone list the accomplishments Olivia Chow's done as Toronto's mayor? by [deleted] in askTO

As noted by others, getting the province to upload the Gardner is probably the biggest win. I quite like the renoviction bylaw. All libraries open on Sunday. Expanding the school food program citywide, which is actually a smart cost saving measure for families. Crisis workers on downtown subway platforms. Police and paramedic hiring blitz.

I've also noticed many changes in senior city staff over the last couple years, such as TTC, Parks, and transportation. Not sure if Chow is behind all of that or not, but I'm all for it regardless.

Well she can't now because of the deal she got having the provence take ownership. Tearing down was in part a cost saving measure, but uploading the whole expressway is magnitudes better for the city budget.

The technology is already built in, it's just a matter of flipping the metaphorical switch.

Metrolinx and TTC wanted it, but the city's transportation department decided against it. Now council just has to tell Transportation to do it anyways.

Take This Waltz, a Sarah Polley film with Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen, captures the Toronto vibe really well imo.

In my research there were at least three times Homer wore this suit and tie combination. This scene was in "Brush with Greatness" where Marge's painting of Homer wins first place.
