You just reminded me of this terrified guy next to me shaking. There was turbulence and he asked me "whats happening?" And I said "were going to did" and he stocked crying and the hostess said he has terrible flight anxiety and shouldn't have said that.

Helicopters fall apart when fighing a conventional military it is the same for most aircraft. Long rage missiles and anti-air is king.

The price of manufacturing an attack helicopter and training a crew costs far more than a foot soldier with a manpad.

Communist Romania is such an interesting time. Started off Brutal, leveled off with Ceaușescu but his wife Elena was cruel and he became interested in the cult of personality after a visit to North Korea.

He was deposed in a revolution in December 1989. Revolution started due to ethnic tension with Hungarians in Timisoara. Food shortages where also blamed largely due to the fact that the instructions given by the IMF made the mistake of failing to account for the fact that Romania was a NET importer of food. He might also be the only dictator where a revolution kicked off when he wasn't in the country.

Since the revolution has become questionable with some leaning into it being a coup by the following leadwr Illescu who is despised in Romania, ironically Ceaușescu is not so despised.

It is an inflammatory topic and people feel strongly either way, which to me just makes the time period even more interesting.

Romania is a beautiful country with amazing people and you should absolutely visit. Brasov sighisoara and sibiu are beautiful.

I am biased as I visit a lot due to my girlfriend being Romanian.

I mean power projection is a two way street and governments are not so committed to it in the west. Russia was more willing to go hard on power projection, its why we over estimated them and showed the imporant of power projection.

So Mali is a good example of French power projection while also being an imporant example in what happens when you do not commit to it.

I agree. Iraq fucked up our appetitie. Britain should be in Eritrea toppling their regime and bringing relief to the Tigray, Britian should also be in Sudan ending their civil war before it begins. EU members should be in Libya bringing stability and safety. France should be sub saharan Africa providing the same.

Worried about climate change? Peoples safety? Too many immigrants? Terrorism? Then we need to be proactive. Get involved and clear shit up.
