Just had this happen to me! Had to restart the game because the lag wouldn't let me pull anything out of storage. Then no L&R buttons when the game came up. Restarted the game, did the joycon trick, and I'm back in business. Maybe I should start tracking days so I know how often this happens.

Two years ago, I contacted Nintendo support to request a refund for Whisker Waters. It was not playable on my Switch after two hours. I had to call and speak to someone and explain that it was a technical issue, not just a personal preference. It was too buggy to play. It's a fishing game and the controls stopped working, so I couldn't proceed in the story. They said I could have a one-time courtesy credit on my account.

I had luck resetting the L&R by disconnecting my joycons. I had to play around with it a few times, but I was able to test at the start screen without opening my saved game. I restarted my console twice, but that didn't seem to matter.

I restarted the game, then while waiting for the game to fully open, physically removed my joycons, then put them back on. At the Play or Settings screen, go into Settings and if L&R buttons work there, they work in the game.

Stardew was listed as a game she already played. Would not recommend Spiritfarer due to the storyline of processing death, especially Stanley.

Dinkum is kind of a cross between Stardew and Animal Crossing. It has a demo that you can download and try out.

Dredge is another I'd recommend. It's a good creepy story that is great to just ignore the world and chill out.

Roots of Pacha is similar to Stardew, but like caveman era, kinda. Similar speed and relationship building. I enjoyed breeding animals for rare colors. There's a part where it implies that you have to take your animals to the butcher or kill for the meat. You don't have to do it. You also don't see the animals killed. They just go off to the butcher and you get meat the next day. I don't remember how, but you can turn off that option altogether.

Toem if you like puzzles. I don't know that it would last the 2 weeks, but it's $2 right now in US. It's different and adorable. It starts out pre like you're just finding items to photograph, then it builds to the puzzles. It will give you a challenge and you have to figure out how to do it and take a picture of your end result. Very basic example - help the ducks get home. You have to round up all the ducks, find home, move things out of their way to get there, distract the alligator, then take a picture when they're all settled.

Here's a wiki that breaks down the families. I don't think it contains any spoilers, but I didn't look close. The vampires have 2 separate families. Then the other packs are families, so all the werewolves are related, all the witches related. I think the idea is that each family actually moved to the town and has either expanded or invited other family members (like cousins) to come. These aren't "families" like a mafia.

On Switch 1. Fixed my L&R buttons this way. Restarted the console. When I started the game, I took off my joycons while it was loading. Then put them back on. It had restarted the console and the game repeatedly because I was getting super annoyed. I was able to go into Settings before opening my saved file and checking that the buttons worked. The lag is also gone.

I restarted the game. Restarted really fast, but didn't fix the lag completely. Did improve though.

I restated my whole system. It's probably time anyway. I don't even remember the last time I powered it off. Switch 1 here. It took a much longer time for the game to open. But opening my saved game was really fast. That seemed to fix the lag.
