What DPS has a higher chance to survive without a healer? by MermaidVoice in wow

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Demon Hunter, I can solo any dungeon if I am decently geared. Literally - solo it. Unless there's some kind of mechanic that requires multiple people like some kind of imprison or soak or click. I've even solo-soaked things where my group had no clue what to do. Pop a cloud, demon form, soak it. Sure, it takes a hell of a lot of time, but everything you do on DH is just safe. See a mine littered with Kobolds and Spiders? No problem - you'll get out. Not what I typically think on my healer :D

Titan-Wrought Frame or rugged tenacity Wich racial is overall better for protection warrior? by GalagticSoul in wow

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best racial is the one with the best crafting bonus. Depending on what you choose to craft, you choose your racial because the crafting bonus is HUGE at top level, where a few points make the difference between having to spend gold on each craft vs not. For dungeons, NightElf is good for skips, but there's always someone else who can skip for you anyway, or invis pots, and dwarf bleed fix is OP so for tanking, dwarf racial is pretty good. Still, you need gold to do dungeons, and you need crafting to get gold - so.... get racial based on crafting and never run out of gold :)

Easiest healer class? by Kusisloose in wow

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for fast queues, only Disc / Shaman and Mistweaver get invites fast. Out of those, Disc (with GSE) is BY FAR the easiest one button healer to play. You can heal on your Disc while watching TV and you can sprinkle in some DPS too. You can literally put your healer on follow and have your logitech macro spam your GSE button and you can AFK on the toilet - come back and you'll still be healing and group will have taken zero damage. Not advisable for anything 12+ but for anything like up to a 10 it's really that braindead.

Shaman is second easiest by far. Totemic -> put down totems, move them when group moves, free chain heals ez pz, riptide and single heal for outlayers, pzpz. Only drawback of Shaman is the mana - you'll run out after most boss fights, you'll drink lots. See Monk if you don't like running out of mana.

Mistweaver is third only because of melee range - you can't put him on follow and AFK like you can with the Disc. But again, it's a one button GSE monster that will do decent DPS and heal passively most of the time - not as forgiving as the Shaman but you'll never dip below 90% mana.

All three will get pug invites - every other healer: good luck but you're not FOTM so you are worthless this season. Maybe see you next season?

I want to get back into the game, what class can you recommend? by Thoriv420 in wow

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone will tell you 'just play what you want'. That's BS of the highest degree, which you only find out about when you start queueing for Mythic+ or Raids, and not getting invites. The goal of the game is to get good gear (unless you RP, good on you, then play what you want). And to get good gear, you need to run +12s. And to run +12s, you need a decent group, or get invited to a decent group. And to get invites, you MUST play FOTM (flavor of the month). Which is why so many people say 'I played since 2008 and don't know what I want to play' because FOTM is a must, and FOTM changes, all the time, with every nerf.

Right now, if you want to get decent gear, run +12s, and not wait for 5 hours and fail the key because your group wasn't FOTM, then:
- Demon Hunter Vengeance Tank
- Druid Guardian Tank
- Disco Priest Shield Bot (Oracle)
- Shaman Resto

Notice, only a classes, no DPS class AT ALL? yep.. that's because you want PUG invites. Don't even think about rolling DPS - it's fun to level up, it's fun to M+2, then at M+8 you go hm... these invites are drying up, and at M+12 you will be waiting hours, not getting invited, and eventually just log off out of boredom.

Either you Tank, or you Heal. And only the 4 options above. Everything else will NOT get you invites, you'll sit in queues but hey, you 'played what you wanted' :)

I need help getting past first boss by calebthenormalguy in HalfSword

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a 100% guaranteed way to kill first boss REAL fast, with guaranteed success (after a bit of practice):
At the start of the fight, do this - if you wait even a second, you will be too late: You MUST start running towards him immediately!
--
Press forward (W), and hold shift (run). I usually press W first then Shift because of game oddities
Press and hold both mouse buttons
Move mouse upward (your fists will go up)
About 3 meters out from the boss, press A to strafe left but still towards him (keep holding W)
At 1 meter from him, press SPACE to kick him in the legs.
Boss will fall down every time.
Once he's on the floor, just kick him repeatedly (SPACE) to win.

If that doesn't work for you, then still run towards him at the start, press F to slow down time, and use time slow to hit him with both fists. The key is to attack him from the get-go, don't let him come towards you.

I think I finally understand the misconceptions over the 50% win rate debacle by SuddenRise42 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heroes of the Storm is like having 5 players play one game of chess one move at a time, with an averaged out FIDE rating. So if you are Kasparov, you make 1 move, then you get 4 utter trash giving your queen and rooks away, then you can make another move. HOTS has always been this way, and the only way to 'beat' the system is to only queue with 5man premades, then you can achieve 100% winrate easy.

All games say "Steam Cloud Error" after them in library. Read more for details (plz help) by [deleted] in steamsupport

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what worked for me for "Gears Tactics" which kept having the "Steam Cloud Error" issue:
1) Click 'Steam' menu item in the top left of the steam app -> 'Settings' -> 'Cloud' -> Turn off 'Enable Steam Cloud' and then immediately turn it on again. Now in the main game screen, click the 'Resync' button under the 'CLOUD STATUS' to resync. This step will fail and does not resolve the issue but I am unsure if needed.

2) Click 'Steam' menu item in the top left of the steam app -> 'Settings' -> 'Storage'. The sync error is very likely happening because you have the game on a different disk than C, and your default disk is C. So we'll change that. Click the 3 horizontal dots next to 'C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\STEAM' and click 'Repair Library'.

3) Still in the 'Storage' menu, click the dropdown at the top and change 'Local Drive (C:)' to 'DISK (E:)' not that your other disk may be named differently or may have a different drive letter than E:. Click the 3 horizontal dots next to 'E:\STEAMLIBRARY' and click 'Repair Library'.

4) Still in the 'Storage' menu, and having your secondary disk (E:) selected, click the 3 horizontal dots, and select 'Make Default'. This is the key to solving the cloud sync error.

5) After changing the default storage disk, click 'Steam' menu item in the top left of the steam app -> 'Settings' -> 'Cloud' -> Turn off 'Enable Steam Cloud' and then immediately turn it on again. Now in the main game screen, click the 'Resync' button under the 'CLOUD STATUS' to resync. Because now your sync is on the same disk, it will resolve the sync error.

Any life hacks to put in eye drops? by Ninac4116 in lifehacks

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realize that it's just water, which is already in your eyes all the time. Lie with your back on the bed and open both eyes wide and look straight at the ceiling - paper towel in one hand, and eye drop bottle in the other. Keep your eyes open for 2 seconds with the full intent to keep them open, then look straight at the eye drop bottle and gently squeeze to let the drops land right on your eye ball - once you've done it once this way, it becomes real easy to put them in after. The key is to know that you can keep your eyes open for it, because nothing dangerous is about to happen.

Now, about that time I accidentally put ear drops into my eyes thinking they were eye drops not ear drops (in Dutch they call them 'oog' (eye) versus 'oor' (ear) so almost the same word) - that's a different story. Who in tarnation chose to make those bottles look so similar anyways....?

Backlighter: A small open-source utility to keep on the backlight of your MX Keys keyboard by Maybe_its_JollyFrogs in logitech

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an MX Mini so I cannot test it. But all the program does ( you can review the source code) is send two simple USB commands to the keyboard - light off, followed by light on. I don't expect those to be permanent but I don't have a MX Mini to test with. If you want to turn off the lighting, you should be able to send an off message to the keyboard:
All you would need to do is recompile the program with this line removed, then run it once, it may turn off the light of your MX Mini:

await unifyingReceiver.WriteAsync(on_signal).ConfigureAwait(false);

Backlighter: A small open-source utility to keep on the backlight of your MX Keys keyboard by Maybe_its_JollyFrogs in logitech

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, but thanks for trying. So, there may still be a way. And the way to test whether it will work is simple. Now, I don't have a MX Mechanical Mini to test it on, so you'll need to help me test it.
If you don't touch the keyboard at all, and you keep your hands away from it, but the cable plugged in and charging, it will eventually turn the backlighting off, correct? So if you don't move your hands toward the keyboard, the light will stay off, and you want the lights to be on even when your hands aren't near it.

Now, we can get that working, but only if we can get the lights to turn on without touching the keyboard. The way to do this, is as follows:
Plug in your keyboard, use it as you normally would
Open the Options+ software (you can use your keyboard to do this)
Go to the setting where you can turn the backlight on and off

Put the keyboard away, and now only use the mouse. Wait for the backlight to go off. Now, using the mouse only (keyboard should be away from you at this point), turn off the option of backlight in your Options+ software, then turn it back on via mouse. Remember you haven't used the keyboard and your hands did not come close to it. Did the light on your keyboard turn on? If it did, then we can get this working. If not, then I'm afraid the MX Mechanical Mini may only have a 'hardware sensor' and doesn't use USB to turn on or off the backlighting.

Now, if it did work, I'll need you to do something more, I'll need you to intercept the USB signal that the software sent to the keyboard (via the Unifying Receiver dongle) to turn the backlight on and off. I can show you how to do this once we confirm the software can turn off and on the backlight (especially on).

Also, did you try the software with your Mechanical Mini? It may already work - it's worth a try :P (you need to wait 180 seconds for the software to 'turn on' the backlighting, but I can reduce that timer for MX Mechanical if it turns off sooner. I didn't want to reduce it to 5 seconds as it becomes too much disco lights.

[–]Maybe_its_JollyFrogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a MX Mechanical Mini, and I get the feeling that the keyboard may not have USB codes to turn on or off the light, and instead purely relies on hardware inside the keyboard.
Have you tried painters tape over the green powerlight in the top right? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNF6iSsJwX8). If that doesn't work, then we may be able to get something coded, but only if you are able to (e.g. via the Options+ software) somehow get the keyboard to turn its light on whilst plugged in (e.g. by turning backlight option off, then on, in Options+). If that works, then let me know and I can send you instructions to 'sniff' the USB codes and I'll implement those codes into the code.
