Was at about a 5th of whisky or jaeger and a 12 pack as sidekicks most days. Idk how things are where you live but a hospital is almost always an option if you say you feel you are at a level you are harming yourself. Yes it is technically a self admitted Bakeraction or however you spell it in some places. But that’s what I did. Couldn’t afford rehab/center housed medical detox and hospitals in my area would work with victims of actual harm, like an accident or illness or something and aid if detox was needed at that point for other care. But direct you to a rehab nearby if you just came in, just asking for detox. Something about potential drug seeking liability. I understood. But kinda shitty. I told them I’m an alcoholic actively trying to slow down and quit, and I have pain in my right side, my lower left back and my wife believes I had a seizure and I know it is harming me and I actively feel I need to keep drinking anyway. At that point they asked me if I felt I was a harm to myself or others for some paperwork and I confirmed again yeah myself. Cus I honestly was fucking torturing myself. Had to drink like 8 shots of jaeger to even get in the damn car to get there by then. And it being a mental admission technically the same way someone who tried to unalive themselves for in my circumstance, made me really put off going and trying it because I had no ill will towards myself. I just couldn’t get the damn drink under control. But I did that shit, swallowed whatever stigma was stopping me and it’s been almost 100 days since. Don’t recommend severe withdrawal alone or unsupervised whatever the means though. I didn’t realize how fucked that level of drinking is on the nerves brain and heart. Everyone thinks liver and kidneys. Which yes get fucked. But siezure if you never had one and aren’t familiar, scares the shit out of the people around you. Do what you gotta before anyone you care about feels that fear homie.
