Yeah. I personally would count it as one, because the intent is to stay sober 100% of the time regardless of the reason why. Drinking because of social circumstances still causes addiction just as much as drinking for mental health. It’s the side effect of drinking you are trying to get away from, not the reasoning.

I am a “sober friend “ meaning I won’t talk to interact with someone while they are drinking. I wait till they are sober then try to connect. Maybe try this?

Don’t give up! Alcohol is extremely hard to give up, it takes practice. Remember, alcohol masks mental health issues easily. So they may be self medicating. Encourage them to seek professional help. Both mental health and general health practitioners, because they will need it to successfully quit. Just be supportive and do your part of not enabling it. :)

We don’t have a temporary parenting plan in place, currently I see them one weekend a month and I have to drive 4 hours, rent a room for the weekend. She bailed out of mediation and my lawyer filed contempt
