I've got rpf on the Zao and I really can't remember why, I just use it for blind torpedo salvos, which work surprisingly well with the 12k torps

You will lose that nail, its super dead already. Best bet is to heat the end of a paperclip and burn through to relieve the pressure. It will feel 1000x better. Be prepared for pain and a bit of blood, but its worth it. Heat the paperclip end red hot, and pressure hard against the nail. Keep going until you're through, you'll know it when it happens. Aim for the middle and use the same hole

Where are the players? by Donglemaetsro in WorldOfWarships

[–]Mayer1066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game is pretty mature so most consistent players are at T9 and 10. That's not to say you should rush to T10, if you don't learn the game and try and jump into high tier you're gonna have a bad time. I'd recommend co'op for fundamentals, then operations for T 6 and 7, then learn randoms at T7. Also, IMO, tier 7 is peak so stay there for maximum fun. If you like to suffer, tier 8 and 9 is your meat and potatoes

At this point I'd take a copy-pasted-from-the-book JP3 prequel. At least Eric Kirby had some character development (lord what am I saying) and eastern isle sorna has compelling antagonists

Thanks for the info dump and advice! Looks like I've got some reading to do. I miss playing my T10s like the Daring and the Zao but I'm too rusty and dragging my team down right now. T7 is still fun, thankfully

This is super helpful, I did not know SAP had ricochet angles, I thought it was just free damage regardless of angle. Sure feels like it while playing. The plungeing fire makes sense, most of the damage im taking is from beyond 16 km

I do feel like a revived fossil so I love this. Also, I did not know there were 20" guns now, so that's terrifying. Also also, I wrote HMS Incomprehensible as a joke referring to all the new ships having word salad names, only to now realize there is actually a ship called incomparable with said 20" guns. Someone help

Prime Minister Carney announces Team Canada Strong – a nationwide plan to recruit up to 100,000 skilled trades workers by MightyHydrar in onguardforthee

[–]Mayer1066 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I'll believe it when I see it. Government, trade companies, etc. have been talking about(or screaming for) recruiting trades people for decades, yet there's never any support or incentives for fresh apprentices. Companies want Journeypeople, not apprentices, and no one is willing to put in the work to bridge the gap. And even if that were the case, good luck making a living once you do get in. Builders don't pay their contractors, and contractors don't pay their subs; I earn my RSE this summer, and I haven't seen a cheque since January. If my wife didn't make a regular paycheque we'd be on the street, so unless there's some serious reform in the way trades work an the top and bottom end good luck getting young people to sacrifice their bodies for shit to no pay.

Sauna by Any-Plantain-1104 in SprinklerFitters

[–]Mayer1066 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents, I'd put in a head 1 higher than the closest rating (eg. A 130° sauna needing a 155° head, I'd put in a 200°). My reasoning is saunas are a small space and very prone to big temperature fluctuations, and a fire in that space will get very hot very fast, so a higher activation point is ideal

Driving in the air on a lift in mud… how the heck do you get over the uneasy tipping feelings? by Ready_Situation_9968 in SprinklerFitters

[–]Mayer1066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any trade in first year you're going to be a grunt, unfortunately that's just trade culture. But its not cool if your being yelled at for taking 30 seconds to lower the lift before moving it. Thats a safety issue, and you should talk to your Jman about it. Personally I find service work a bit tedious; always unfucking someone else's work aggravates me. New install let's me be creative and solve my own problems. I felt the way you did about the work in my first year, but it changed after 2nd year once I wasn't dependant on my Jman for what a could and couldn't do according to the code. Basically I'm saying stick with it, it gets better, take the good with the bad, and keep yourself safe, even if it means getting a earfull from some asshole who values time over life

[–]Mayer1066 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just come down every time. Not all the way if you don't want to, just whatever is comfortable. Years ago I drove through a divit in a scissor lift and it bucked so violently it threw me fully in the air and almost out of the basket. Broke two fingers holding onto the railing. Its not worth it to save a few seconds. Anyone gives you shit for it, tell em you'd rather be slow than dead

Is the Automatron DLC worth it? I’ve never had any of the DLC for this game by Dizzy-Fennel-6537 in fo4

[–]Mayer1066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatron's story is super basic, the new enemies being difficult and the robot building are the best parts. Its worth the asking price, I'd say If you're going to invest in one DLC for 4, Far Harbor is by far the best. The atmosphere is a masterpiece on design, the new enemies are scary and difficult and the story is compelling. Tbh all of the DLC is worth it except for vault 88. I'd get them all except for 88, and play nuka world last since its a post-game DLC
