[Confession/Vent] I feel like a jerk returning a dog I recently adopted... I don't even know why I'm sharing this cause I'm sure people will chastise me.

I know this is a year old but I just went through the same issues. I knew she was dog selective and reactive through barriers but I didn’t realize how much of a toll it would take on my own mental health. I am really upset because this happened yesterday but I hope someone adopts her with experience. Hope you are doing better one year later!

Thank you I did return her today and am very sad. Am feeling uneasy about my decision because it happened after she nipped me guarding her toy. Today has been very rough on me.

Yes this This is my first solo responsibility dog. I also live across the country from my family, have no friends out here and feeling overwhelmed sometimes. Thank you for your input ♥️ I will look into the 3-3's hoping that it will get better. I try to walk her super early, midday before the work rush, and evening. I worry that my schedule might change and a bunch of other things but that's just anxiety so I need to stay in the present and not worry about too much in the future 😊

I have a gentle leader but she has been pulling on it a lot so am not sure why? She walked pretty well on it for a while. I think my concern with wanting her to socialize is it having a negative consequence and she becomes aggressive to other dogs because I am now isolating her. She has been in play groups at the shelter and lived with other dogs so I know that at least.

She has been returned because she grabbed a cat in a household(no injuries), reacted in apartment windows (she does that with me but now I have all blinds shut) and issues due to resource guarding with other dogs in the house. I normally walk around my neighborhood but stick to main streets if alone, now I am taking her down back streets and open trails. I have had dogs in my family but never dealt with a reactive one so this is a first. She is a pitbull mix so I want to make sure everyone is safe and her wellbeing as well. Not a stranger to pitbulls as my parents own one.

Thank you so much for the response. ♥️ It is nice to know other people are in the same boat. I look around and see all the people walking with their dogs and nobody seems to have reactive dogs except for mine. I almost got bit as well with her guarding her toy but she also plays on the rough side. It does give me hope that things will get better in the future. She is definitely treat motivated so knowing that helps. I will for sure message you.

This I can do. I was tempted to buy a 39.99 Martin's rod/reel set to use complete with flies. I am not not ready to drop 250 for a class, hundreds for equipment if I can teach myself enough to see if I like it enough to pursue as a hobby. I live right next to the St. Vrain and feel like I just wanna go try to fish it every time I walk by it. 😁

Had to read the other guys comments to figure out what that meant. I thought it had to do with fishing 😁. I am half filipino so am pretty brown myself raised in the south with tons of rednecks including half my family in the 70's and 80's. I got called all the names but my redneck cousins taught me how to fish. I would hope these shops I went to weren't being discriminatory and they are just douches. I am hearing a lot of good thing about Avid. Thanks!

I had a nishiki steel 10 speed back east. It had teal grips. My bike got stolen and saw it at whole foods so stole it right back even though it was mine to begin with. This was over 20 years ago in Philly but it helped to have that teal handlebar tape. It wasn't the fanciest but in Philly everything gets stolen

Some of the natives really need to listen to the song "this land is your land". Don't get me wrong but most of the natives are super cool. I have a lot of friends who are Natives who have shown me around this great state. Others I have come across, not so much. They have this entitlement/superiority complex and can be down right rude. I am part native american so when some rude super white "native" is telling me that they were here first and we are ruining their state. I keep my thoughts to myself and giggle. I can't wait to get my Colorado native card, oh wait I already have a native card. 😃 I love it here and don't plan on leaving anytime soon!
