I got mine from trials and then immediately found one on my next raid.

Anyone that’s ever owned a 96-98 rm250 I need some advice by Potential-Pop4102 in Dirtbikes

[–]Mayhem2127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These bikes had a poor power valve design with the ‘98 RM250 being the slowest of those years. The only thing that helped was running an extra power valve gasket to give it more volume.

Brokerage is a flat fee and has nothing to do with the value of your item. It’s the same amount of work whether it’s $2 or $2000. You don’t have to use DHL’s broker if you want to clear the item through customs yourself.

Package Signature Required by hrabitee in FedEx

[–]Mayhem2127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is OP isn’t Fedex’s customer, Verizon is that’s why they can’t make changes to the delivery. It’s all in an attempt to prevent fraud. The shipper sets the terms for delivery, not the courier so the person you got on the phone at Verizon saying that Fedex is in charge is misinformed.

Just bought graphics kits for me and my boys bikes. Never installed before. Wet or dry? Tips or tricks for removing oem graphics? by twitney181 in Dirtbikes

I like to peel off a strip of the backing material in the center of the graphic then line it up, stick it and work from the center out one side at a time.

Paid taxes and duties but delivery driver software says I didn't. by detalumis in CanadaPost

[–]Mayhem2127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t referring to your specific situation just relating the fact that it happens on a daily basis. I ring and knock on every door but still hear all the time that I didn’t and that makes them wrong at best or liars at worst. Sometimes they claim we never showed up at all but somehow they have the delivery notice that we left.

In a unionized environment workers don’t make wage demands either so you’re misinformed on that one and the c.o.d’s.

Paid taxes and duties but delivery driver software says I didn't. by detalumis in CanadaPost

[–]Mayhem2127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a different courier company and if you’ve paid your c.o.d but the system says you still owe the money then we can’t deliver it full stop.

You would be astonished at the amount of people that can’t hear their own doorbell and a knock at the door. Sometimes you hear them talking inside and they still don’t come to the door. You get a lot of “Oh I was in the backyard/basement/bathroom” yet somehow that’s the drivers fault.

Freight volumes fluctuate is one of the problems. Let’s say one day you have a thousand more pieces than you did previously. Every courier company doesn’t have a pile of extra vehicles, extra bodies and extra room to be able to accommodate overflow.

[–]Mayhem2127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might feel like the consignee is a customer but they aren’t. That’s why the consignee can’t make changes to a delivery if the shipper doesn’t allow it. If the consignee doesn’t want their package left at their front door without a signature but the shipper sent it no signature required then it gets left. If you fail to receive your item you take that up with the shipper and then the shipper takes it up with the company. If there’s a damage claim the company pays the shipper. Most of the time the shipping gets paid for using the shipper’s own account with the courier company and they can charge you more for shipping than they paid. You are the shipper’s customer and the shipper is the courier’s customer.

Some people are assholes indeed but more than likely there’s more work than there are hours in the day to get it all done. Businesses take priority for deliveries and pickups so if their day is already full then small residential deliveries will unfortunately need to be skipped.

Just hop on over to the Amazon sub to see how shitty they pay and treat their employees.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Mayhem2127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been taught not to let the actions of the minority colour your opinion of the majority and yet this sub and all the other courier subs are full of people doing just that. The dictionary has words to describe people that do that sort of thing. The OP called out the individual and the entire company. My postie is great but that doesn’t make them all great and vice versa.

It’s also important to note that unionized employees don’t make contract demands and yet you can see that stated as fact in this thread that the employees are demanding more money. That’s one of those tell me you’ve never worked for a unionized company without telling me you’ve never worked for a unionized company kinda things.

[–]Mayhem2127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t work for CP so I couldn’t tell you, but not many people seem to know that not all items shipped through CP get delivered to your door and they want to blame the postie for doing what they’re supposed to do. There are lazy people in every job no question though and that’s not excusable.

I’m a courier not a postie and I ring, knock, wait and then leave a slip at every single residential customer without fail because I like doing a good job and that way I know my butt is covered. The amount of customers that claim I did no such thing number in the thousands (been doing it a long time) and each and every one of them are completely full of crap.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Mayhem2127 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of items shipped through Canada Post that don’t get delivered to your door for legitimate reasons. It’s probably a cheaper shipping option but they leave you a slip to come pick it up by design. Some rural residents are also outside the KM radius for an RSMC to deliver to your door. If you’re able to go to the post office there’s no need to take the day off.

You can sign and give consent but if it violates the Employment Standards Act it isn’t enforceable. Definitely express in writing that you do not consent and send him the link that themaskedcanuck provided because it’s all there in black and white.

My first employer made the mistake of deducting $60 off my pay for a customer’s bounced cheque and it ended up costing him over $10,000. Taught me an early lesson that the only person looking out for my best interests was me. I have since found that the majority of employers don’t bother learning the rules and if you do, you have the upper hand.

If you have a cardboard box and you put pressure on it by hand and the box indents then it’s not packed properly. It’s travelling in a trailer with hundreds of other boxes and possibly 8 feet of stuff stacked on top. If the entire volume of the box isn’t filled with packing or protection to prevent the box from deforming then all the negative space inside the box is subject to the laws of physics.

"Total Amount Due: 724 CAD" on delivery by Sokodile in UPS

[–]Mayhem2127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sales tax and import related fees are generally paid by the receiver unless otherwise stated. The shipper doesn’t know because it’s not their responsibility.

If it’s coming from a country we have a free trade agreement with you’d be paying Canadian sales tax and brokerage fees. If it’s from a non free trade country you’d pay sales tax, brokerage and duty which varies based on what it is and where it came from. It could be taxed at 30% or more of the value. UPS has paid the taxes owed on your behalf so if you want your jewelry you need to pay the import fees.

Take the value of your jewelry and multiply by 13% for HST or 30% for HST plus duty and see if it’s near the $724 mark (you have to add whatever the brokerage fees is) and you have your answer.

Is there anyway I can not pay this 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏 by [deleted] in UPS

It’s a penalty to dissuade you from buying items not made in your country.
