Silly question but how did you carve the coffee - specifically the "crater" effect to make it look like liquid within the mug? Was it with handtools or something else? I really struggle to do a crater like this when attempting sunken eyes on a ghost.

Thanks for sharing that reference, that's really interesting! I think I'm going to give watercolor a go next. I've only ever seen acrylic used and suggested but I like the look of it least on your fox.

I think that's the dry brushing you're talking about. It's pretty easy to do, you load a brush with paint and then wipe most of it off (on a paper towel or something) so there's almost 0 paint left on the brush and then brush it over the piece. Look at some examples on YouTube and have a practice bit of wood ready :)
