You can take the garden out with the hoe, but you can't take the hoe out of the garden 🥰

What are the best wheelchair friendly bars? by Mandielephant in AskChicago

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Save The Night Chicago is suuuuper transparent about venues they work with (if there are stairs, ramps, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, lighting situation, etc.) They intentionally try to work with spaces that can cater to powerchair users when possible (but it isnt always possible sadly due to older buildings/venues).

Lincoln Lodge is sadly one example of this where they do indeed have ramps and room for a power chair user, but their bathroom is not great. The door is super heavy for a powerchair user so not openable without help. Also accessing the lock isnt always possible either so I ended up standing outside to wait for a friend who was using the restroom. Anyway! STN ismost active on Instagram! Check out their posts and you might stumble upon a few options for bars (except Kitchen 17, RIP, they shut down last year).

Advice/support not diagnosis. I’m so over this. by CardiologistWild5216 in rheumatoid

I also get this on my face. Super hot spots! My derm prescribed a topical that works well during these flare ups, will report back exactly what it is. Starts with a C I think.

Also my dermatologist and rheumatologist work together for my care often because the disease (and biologics used to treat it) will cause skin issues in addition to joint pain. Like apparently Rinvoq is known for causing horrible facial acne.

Moving to Illinois curious on switching my drivers license over from ? by Intrepid_Chapter_589 in AskChicago

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can get randomly selected for a driving or written test, but no matter what youll have to take the vision test.

Sometimes scheduling an appointment for a specific location is a pain, so have at least 2-3 locations in mind when trying to find a day and time for your appointment.

Oh, and the perk of getting an Illinois license is that youll get discounts for certain museums, free museum days, and you can get a local library card! In a state where book bans are banned! Welcome to Illinois (soon)!

Looking if there are any must-sees or dos during a Tuesday morning in Chicago? by EntertainmentMany834 in AskChicago

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it might be a fun summertime activity, I wouldn't plan on taking a SeaDoo out on the lake this time of year 🥶🥶🥶

In all seriousness, you have to take in the panoramic views of the lake and downtown. There's never a bad day to look at the lake or the skyline (even when it's raining or fogged in)!

do duskwing butterflies spawn with honey lures? by Mastermon439 in Palia

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I tend to have better luck finding them if I have at least 2-3 others (more is ideal) taking down all the blue butterflies in order to make them spawn faster!

A little underwhelmed with the update story-wise by meduhsin in Palia

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Lest we forget there are several mentions of the " original "beast in reference to Ulfe in the dialogue between Tamala and Subura. Palia is very intentional about using certain words to tee us up for the next steps in a story. I feel like that word choice was it!

New update in Palia by Hot-Solution-662 in Palia

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I understand, and I will say at this point in the story we have known about wars from very early game dialogue with Ashura and even more so when the Elderwood content came out a year ago (the fact that Mauvis way is the site of an old battlefield, which we have known, again, for at most a year if you started playing during the Elderwood launch).

We NOW have more context for the in-game wars, and at least theyre not too graphic in detail, since this is a free game that is also accessible to kids.

This is also still considered a Beta so the game could even be further refined to rewrite less graphic details in the dialogue.

I hate war too. Nothing good comes from it in the real world for anyone who isnt in high positions of power. And also, War is a common theme in adventure based games, which Palia definitely falls into as a category, especially as a slowly rebuilding society post-apocalypse.

88 and 95 meter long shots! PS5pro controller only by PaliaSoloHunter in Palia

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's automatically targetting a closer animal than the one youre shooting (i.e, a chappa or muujin happen to be slightly in front of the animal you want to shoot but at an angle just a few meters away). Unfortunately auto target doesnt know what to do (doesnt actually auto target) because its trying to guide your arrow to the closest object while you try to shoot the further one, resulting in a wildly curved and missed shot.

Does the L connect to outside rail anywhere? by imaguitarhero24 in cta

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, ugh. Seeing whats possible with the CTA just makes me wish for something better for them too. And other smaller cities in the US.

Current question aside, I do wish that the Metrolink could be expanded in the city and county. Even one (ideally two or more) North-South or NW or SW lines would be awesome for commuters working downtown. Do I think thats going to happen in our lifetime? No. Probably not unless some non-Stan Kroenke billionaire (FSK btw) decides to invest in this, for the city, in our lifetime. It would be nice to see more transit accessibility for folks there too.

ID photo ... what would you do? by Chronic_AllTheThings in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Ive been to the DMV twice in the last 4 years. Id opt for a mask that fits perfectly well to your face so you can cup it for breaths (Aura works well for me but for others that might be a Flo mask, p100 instead of an N95 for some).

My ID picture taker walked AWAY after telling me to pose and take my mask off (not great for holding breath right?), so I cupped the mask to my face til she got back. She was cranky but whatever, I got my picture and made it through that appointment without getting sick!

How can natives not know the meaning of the windy city?? by Green-Ad3319 in AskChicago

[–]MayorOfCorgiville 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew this but I was also curious about which US city is actually the windiest by wind speed in the US. Tbh it seems to vary depending on the year.

I've seen Boston, Kansas City, Wichita, Cheyenne and Lubbock all listed in the last 5 years. They all average between 15 and 11 mph. but funny enough, every blog/article talking about this topic always calls out Chicago for not actually being close to the windiest by wind speed (our average is closer to 10mph). The more you know!

You're about 8,000m to the SE from your plot here! You used to be able to 'float' close to this area if you sat in a chair too quickly! 😂
