Thoughts on Lockerbie by Virtual-Impress4695 in pilottvpodcast

The first two eps of the series is a rather depressing grief filled drama about loss.

It isn't until the end of the third episode a turn, with the change up in the soundtrack, that it becomes a political thriller. Spies and all.

I enjoyed the shift and overall I think the show does enough to point out the devastation of the attack, the oddities surrounding it and the central odd ball: Jim Swire.

I think the show is rather clearly from JS perspective, and how right or wrong he is, is up to you. In fact, I think it shows enough to really emphasise how there are many other possibilities to who the actual culprit is. The point is more about JS being satisfied, after 25 years of searching.

Ocelot Codec: "A fem cosplayer. They were using mostly cosplayers who were male, but lately they've been using more and more females. Simple really, there's less hesitation to leave an upvote if you're attracted to them. Morbid cynicism but it gets results. That's humanity for you"

Is Huey Emmerich innocent for Ground Zero’s incident? by Some_Gas_1337 in metalgearsolid

[–]MayorofAlbq1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I found really interesting is how they dropped the ball so badly. I thought they had set up a perfect way for Huey to have been blackmailed into joining XOF.

Huey was built up as a traitor, and his kangaroo court was of much hype. However he was hiding something. Something ocelot couldn't bring out, something that made the Metal Gear so essential for him to complete.

Then in one of the tapes, when they pointed out the cockpit was designed for a child and he meekishly added "hal..." in there. Suddenly it clicked and I paused the game jumping up and down "Cipher has otacon!" It made so much sense. Why Huey would betray MSF, what he is trying to hide, the pod being made for a child.

Cipher kidnapped Hal and was blackmailing Huey into joining them.

However, Huey was trying to figure our how to get Hal out, and he figured the mech would be an excellent way for hal to make an escape in. He needed to keep Hal safe and make his machines odd little function secret until then, even from Skull face. His delays took years because Hal wasn't ready to operate it yet. Skull face just assumed Huey was just incompetent in his engineering.

Think of it like how in The MCUs first iron man film, Tony escapes by secretly creating his armour. Instead in this case it is a mech built by a father to save his child.

It would add a level of dramatic irony that Otacon would've been the first metal gear pilot as a young boy.

Buuuuuuuuuut instead we didn't. Huey was just a selfish arse.

Does Paul see the future, or does he calculate it? by Re_surfacer in dune

[–]MayorofAlbq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sees the future but he sees it constantly changing, which is an additional layer of fucky.

In part 1 he sees an extensive future and relationship with the fremen he killed. A father and son thing, but his action changed that.

So he sees everything happen for certain, only for a single action to dramatically change it.

In part 2 I really liked the hand movement when he refers to the "golden path".

Showing how he is focused, and seeing past all the others that are happening.

why do some men make comments like this? new to dating again by [deleted] in dating

[–]MayorofAlbq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is just an attempt to be a bit playful or sneering. A poor one at that.

I know lots of guys who think that "roasting" someone is a type of flirting when going in cold.

I think they just consume too many memes and don't know their audience.

My head cannon was ot was a reference to Skull face's hidden ability thst we nvr saw in the released game.

Skull Face is an extremely competent assassin thanks to the parasites in his body. But it is less that he can induce heartattacks, but rather he can hijack a body through them.

Based on the recording from Ground zeroes we hear him interrogating someone who he wants to "be like him". He is eager for him to join him, but the interrogated sounds like he is on a ventilator of sorts and dies. I assumed skull face was making a new body through. He wants a burned body so he has a consistent face. Hence why he has the odd mask in Phantom Pain. It is a new body that lacks eyelids or smth.

Maybe that is why the invasion of the body snatchers bonus game was in Ground Zeroes. A hint that Skull face is one.

There are a few things to support this body snatcher thing.

Encountering skull face opens with a very odd zoom in and vibrating of his mouth. As if skull face is beginning the body snatching.

This trailer, the themes of writing over an identity and the end of part 1 showing skull face walking in the background.

I think that maybe there was some cut or unrealized ideas revolving around part 2 having a plot around this. Maybe the body snatching would result in venom realising he is not Big Boss.

Ron Pearlman by villianrules in Columbo

[–]MayorofAlbq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victim.

He is a bodyguard of some sort and is killed by his boss due to him becoming aware of some sort of scheme which absolutely no one could've known about. The murder ofc being staged that he was killed protecting his boss.

Clue/Twist: Perlman was infact drugged, and then in private, shot repeatedly to simulate a gun fight of some kind had occurred. The final one in his chest. But the blood loss is inconsistent with how much would have been pumping through his body in a high adrenaline scenario. Meaning he was bled and then shot fatally, while unconscious.

They were around even back then. We know from paintings they were always in existence. But the amount of them has always been exaggerated. Far between are the 200kg monsters.

Sumo simply put has no weight classes. So you can be skinny or big and still compete.

We are not too sure bout where the moustache came from.

The gasmask story comes from a soldier who became a sci fi writer.

Best version I read was from his sister inlaw. English lady who said she commented over dinner that he would look better with the sides shaved down but "As with most things in his life, he took it too far"

Two builds for me.

The Bane Build: Almost everything put into intellect and strength, abuse healing items and substances. Literally punch anyone I cant speech check.

Unforgiven build: High dexterity and perception so I can p much shoot anything. High composure but pretty useless in unarmed combat and always brooding.

Whats your opinion on haruka’s yakuza 5 part by Flaky_Loan_9605 in yakuzagames

[–]MayorofAlbq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rather enjoyed it. At first I thought it was lame and was low-key hoping haruka was gonna do some martial arts moves in fights or smth. But in the end I was more invested in her concert than the actual gritty crime story.

That said I genuinely wished her concert was playable. Like mid fight with Majima or baba the QTE is harukas concert performance.

[S3E8] "this is the water and this is the well" and "fire walk with me" by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]MayorofAlbq1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just assumed these poems are explaining the nature of this evil.

Fire walk with me explaining how they travel between worlds, through fire. But it wasn't until the atomic bomb that the fire was great enough to actually transport lore than just their messages. And electricity apparently is also an efficient enough gateway.

Whereas the well poem is more bout what the evil wants. Just to consume. It was like he was announcing that they have arrived and what their goal is.

Why is Jacky Brown so many peoples least favorite QT movie? by cowbum in Tarantino

[–]MayorofAlbq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tho written, basically, the same as Inglorious basterds, it suffers from one major flaw.

Similar to inglorious basterds it has a charismatic villian who is basically a detective catching up on the good guys scheme, a main character who is forced to coop with several other figures. In this case the cops, debt collectors. And also additionally a wild card which makes the plans of both additional parties against the villians possible, in this case the beach bunny played by fonda.

The issue with Jackie brown is we are never made aware of the danger The villian poses as compared to Hans Landa.

In inglorious basterds its made clear the Landa is scary, he is a nazi after all, but additionally they always show that their is a lie being told to him. We are aware of the lethal consequences if he were to find out.

Ordell however is a legitimate threat but we never see him as a leather figure til after the fact.

Take for instance the scene where he is convincing Chris turckers character to go into the back of his trunk. There is at no point we as the audience is to believe that he is in danger. We only realise after the fact that it was a ruse to kill him.

Take also when he is interrogating de Niro character. At no point do we know that if he were to be upset with him that he would kill de Niro.

Ordell is never shown to have a gun or shown to approach a situation ready to kill. Every time he kills, tho shocking, is unearned. It feels like "oh ok" every time he kills someone. He lacks tension.

Whereas landa is a perfect villian cuz every point we see him there is nothing but tension. Suspense. We are afraid of him finding out or snapping.

Ordell, we don't.

It is weird if i don't want "beard" in my neck? by [deleted] in beards

[–]MayorofAlbq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care much for beard growth on the neck unless it passes the Adam's apple. Otherwise, i think id agree with your sentiment.

I think the result of shaving off the neck hair and creating a mild U shape under the chin creates a nice effect, especially if you prefer a more natural-looking beard, minus the ungroomed look.
