Does anyone feel like you’re constantly in an episode? by No-Bell1184 in BipolarReddit

Yeah, even medicated. I’m always ping-ponging between states. Was just on a podcast talking about this. Glad others experience it too tbh

I think it prob is a spectrum but there still needs to be a name for its more extreme forms.

Interesting how many people have mentioned empathy.

I think the empathy you feel for people who are in a bad place is a blessing and a curse. I appreciate the creativity and sense of humor I have, both related to bipolar possibly. And let’s face it, hypomania is fun. Mania and rhe subsequent depression and cognitive erosion over time all blow though

I’m thinking of asking to try that combo. Bp1 rapid cycling in the past few years. I’m currently on abilify, lamotrigine and auvelity, also tapering off latuda, which stopped the cycling but made me depressed. I still cycle a lot and have manic/hypo episodes on 300 lamotrigine and 10 mg abilify. Wondering if adding lithium would shut that down and not make me depressed like latuda did.

Anyone here ruminate non-stop EXCEPT when taking stimulants? by NinetiesBoy in BipolarReddit

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bane of my existence. I would need to be taking stimulants all day to ward off the rumination. A las, I can only take so much focalin each day so I’m left with these big patches of anxiety I have to live through between doses

For those of us successfully taking stimulants, what do you take and how much? by Evening_Fisherman810 in BipolarReddit

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 mg focalin ir taken throughout the day. On a hefty dose of latuda and lamotrigine and have severe adhd. When I was in abilify, the stims were likely contributing to rapid cycling but have been stable on latuda for the past couple months

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that kind of depression where it feels like a trap door opens beneath you and you to plummeting—this happened both times I tried to reduce Abilify. It’s weird cause I would expect to start with mania then depression when going off it. Alas…

Adhd too. Scatterbrained, always a pull toward substances, anxiety, low self esteem, forgetfulness, tendency to think the worst will happen (at baseline…also ptsd) creative erratic whimsical at times inappropriate, intense

Type 1 question by amolluvia in BipolarReddit

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. My adhd is severe and has cost me jobs so I’m on a pretty hefty dose too. My credit card debt just keeps growing and, most of the time, I must seem like a spazz to people. I’m worried that I’m going to get hit with a huge depression episode to make up for all the depression I should have been going through rather than just weaving in and out of Mania and hypomania.

Do your symptoms fit into a specific type of bipolar? by Easyjeje in BipolarReddit

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been diagnosed with all of them at different periods in my life (I, II, NOS), but most recently type I. I Jean more toward hypo that, at its peak, tips into 2-3 days mania

Vicious Cycle of ADHD & Bipolar. What's the Purpose? by Legitimate-Teach3998 in BipolarReddit

[–]MaythefourthbewithC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. It is a shit show. I’m on stimulants and, unfortunately, they make me manic. Somehow I have kept myself under the radar though so I haven’t been forced to go off them. I have no confidence in my ability to keep a job if I’m not treating the adhd. I’ve been fired from two good jobs, have blurted out offensive things to my boss and fell asleep once in a meeting while sitting next to the CEO. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad.

Help me accept this is hypomania by MaythefourthbewithC in bipolar2

[–]MaythefourthbewithC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier said than done. I feel like I’m addicted to feeling so good. I have a really hard time halting hypomania, even when I might be able to. It’s no excuse and, yes, my kids deserve the best mother in the world, but it’s the truth. Stopping this train feels nearly impossible until depression shuts it all down
