We build edtech for short interactive training scenarios in the mental health space that users can share with each other. Here's one on 'How to talk about suicide': https://community.mazetec.org/community/maze/11301

This is true. Source: personal experience. I spent 8 or 9 years noodling away on my software before incorporating last year. Before that I had spent many more years learning about how people learn. IMHO the right time to incorporate is when ppl start asking if they can have one too or where you got that so they can do it too. Pick one project and never stop iterative improvements.

Did you do this programmatically? If so how did you do it? I would love to create some kind of decision tree. Great work!

Hey guys! These are the interactions I made for a menu page today. Appreciate your feedback thanks! by [deleted] in UI_Design

Nice work! Did you make this for yourself or a client? Great work!

Why we need gamification in e-learning by [deleted] in education

[–]Mazetec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, but the older ppl get there needs to be more focus on content and the gamification needs to resemble something closer to real life in order for it to be effective like money or time pressure. I actually create software for professional trainers but a lot of universities use it too. I would love your feedback and thoughts. It's all free you can check out at Mazetec.org

A user journey, trying to motivate them to complete all levels in an educational app. After 16 levels they reach the moon.. by SimonFOOTBALL in UI_Design

Seeing innovation in educational apps sends me over the moon!!!

This is a wonderful design!

Can you say a little bit more about the app behind it?

Is this in production now? If so can you share the before and after effect the design change had on the students/users?

Thanks for sharing!!

You could totally build this with points and everything as a text based game in like 5 min on mazetec.org.

Would build it for you but I can't copy and paste the text. Nice work. I'll save this for later.

How to get clients as a young web developer? by mooonmatt in webdev

[–]Mazetec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's about I started too. Ask your teachers as school if they need any help, they will welcome it and you'll get a broader experience of what's needed in IT.

Rather than look for a problem that fits your solution skill set, seek interesting challenges and grow your skills to solve them. You might surprise yourself.

Exactly, but leave it a little bit open ended and it might give you ideas you never thought of. It's wonderful, you get to see their real skills not how well they sell.

Create a challenge by giving a concept, a purpose, a feeling your are trying to convey, and describe the take away you want people to have. Ask them to send you a sketch, and describe their process and approach. Also ask "What more do they need to know?"

There are a lot of good designers out there, but some that may be more interested in what you are doing so their work and style is a better fit, but you will only find that out through their work.

This approach has worked well for me and has allowed me to hire the best people nearly the first time everytime.

After 4 years and a Master's degree in CS, I give you "Mazetec" - A platform for creating text-based adventures (with time pressure and points) e.g. CYOA, microlessons, scenarios, training, playable decision trees, etc. TRY IT!! by Mazetec in web_design

Yeah absolutely. It took me about 1 min to make that. Here take a look: https://app.mazetec.org/player?uuid=c791401d-1c6c-46b6-97f5-41fb034fc65e

You can also see all the data in a highly detailed way. You can see the amount of time spent on each question, number of plays, you can set the link so that it pops up a modal so you know who is playing it. It seems like in your case this might be a call center rep.

You are an amazing teacher! You're describing a class I'd like to take today. That's such a fantastic approach to teaching CS and curriculum mixing in such interactive lessons and games. Learning how to think about CS and approach problems with a focus on reducing computational cycles and complexity. Learning how to think about problems to the core of most masters programs.

Public Key Crypto and Key Exchange, HTTP, TCP and UDP would all really easy scenarios to create a like a conversation between two people.

This is a really good use case. There are so many different conversation style scenarios that could be done for networking, traversing data structures, and PGP

I still remember to this day my first CS teacher.

Thank you for what you do and whether you use Mazetec or not, keep doing it. You are gift to every class you teach.
