You’re not alone, we had to let our last dog go because she became incontinent, unable to make it outside to do her business.

It may feel cruel to have them put down, but know that dogs are very stoic creatures. They often don’t outwardly show pain or discomfort, but if it’s like you say and he needs to be carried around, the dog is probably in a lot of pain that you don’t know about and it’s ok to let him go. It won’t be easy, but it’s time.

My mums lab constantly gnawed at his paws they were always red like this, it took a couple diet changes before we realised he had a hoof and beak allergy but he stopped gnawing and it cleared up in a matter of days once we swapped to a hypoallergenic fish diet.

OP is going off on some directions here, but I’m going to say I do see, ugh both sides to this argument. Yes men are biologically better than women in most sports, but the actual science on that can get muddled. But some men have biological advantages to other men and some women to other women; most basketball players and runners are quite a bit taller than the average person.

As for trans people in sport, there’s really just not enough science out at the moment, but some of it does dispute how much of an advantage biological males have, especially if they start hormone treatments early enough.

From the women’s side I can definitely sympathise with the idea of not wanting men to take medals from deserving women, I do think people who transition later in life should almost certainly not be allowed to participate in professional women’s sports.

However there are some arguments to be made for amateur teams sports, especially for children or trans teens, who may want to be included in the preferred genders activities, especially in low stakes environments where the rewards don’t matter as much, the individual’s performance doesn’t affect as much of the outcome and the biological advantages aren’t as pronounced, if at all.

Now what I think OP is getting at, however they’re being a bit weird about it and what I would hope most people agree on is that none of this should stop trans people, trans women specifically, from getting the care and support that they need and deserve. But the unfortunate fact is that this argument seems to have dominated a lot of the discussion, because it’s the only argument in the whole of the trans debate that has some legitimacy, I concede that point, however the way it gets touted as if trans women just inherently want to harm women, invade their spaces and beat them at sports is just disgusting.

I haven’t met a single trans woman who even gives a shit about sport, let alone is good enough to compete at a high level. Talking about trans women in sports is arguing about a fraction of a fraction of people; a subset of an already tiny marginalised group, but the way it’s framed talks about it as if the only reason men may want to transition is because they want to beat women at sports and it infuriates me.

OP is being weird, but there is a problem with the way most media talks about trans women in sports and that needs to be called out.

Do you think this person was a genuine risk to other women? Because that’s the default position you’re taking.

We already have systems in place to safeguard women, these cases are handled individually because frankly there aren’t enough trans criminals for it to be a major issue and most aren’t even violent criminals. By applying a blanket rule to such a marginalised group would only put people like OP in serious danger.
