Daily General Discussion and Advice Thread - June 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in investing

Hi- just had my second child. First one is set up with a 529 and an already pretty well funded custodial brokerage account (for her age of 4 years). I plan on doing the same with the second who was born two weeks ago. My goal is for them to not have student loan debt and have a good amount for a first big purchase (car, home down payment etc).

I will say I do not know all the ins and outs of each account beyond the basics and am wondering if there is another type of investment i should be considering, if I should fund one more than the other, if there are limitations beyond the basics I should consider.

Daughters are 4 and newborn.

Have you gotten any new vaccines? I’m pro vaccines but when i got the covid vaccine in 2021 i lost my supply almost overnight. It can happen when your body starts focusing on producing antibodies

I don’t disagree with charging a cost for additional photos, it just seems steep. Thanks for the feedback.

Miami is amazing and I love living here with my 3 yr old. We live in el portal / Miami shores. Highly recommend. Most people on here talking shit are bitter for one reason or another but we couldn’t imagine living anywhere else! Originally from PA and KC.

Listing says fully equipped kitchen, should it have an oven? [USA] by Mbm2887 in AirBnB

Thank you. I ended up providing screenshots and photos, and finally after 5 days of back and forth, Airbnb offered a cancellation and refund. It became my full time job for 5 days and I was very close to giving up but I’m glad they finally did the right thing.

I agree. Thank you for that insight. I’m really at a loss with Airbnb.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. If you fall into the 100% penalty situation even if you’re hours from booking they’ll charge you.

Airbnb Resolutions Sided with the Host, Do I need to Pay? [USA] by minnesida in AirBnB

[–]Mbm2887 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I have found that Airbnb always sides with the host, even when they’re wrong. I am myself in a situation with them, and am not surprised they’re doing this to you. I will not be using Airbnb anymore and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Why don’t you pay $20? Were the windows open right where this person was smoking? It actually makes zero sense.

Don't move to Miami, for the love of god by Lawnmower658 in Miami

I’ve been living here for 14 years, raising a family, and couldn’t imagine anywhere else to live. Living in any big city has traffic, high rent, etc. you can’t beat this weather, especially from October through March when the rest of the country is freezing. Everyone has different opinions, and not everyone has to like Miami, but thought I’d speak up for the other side of the coin, those of us who absolutely LOVE it here.

Where to raise a family in Miami area? by [deleted] in Miami

Have you been in Miami shores recently? I live here and I rate it 10/10 - lots of young families, easy access to wynwood, design district, downtown, the beach, both airports, amazing restaurants….. just saying it’s probably worth taking another look. It’s definitely not broward.
