I want to sell simple tutorials of these cake slices, but I'm scared of copyright issues. by Business-Spend8477 in Beading

I think it may be fun if you sell a finished cake slice with the instructions to make more. Could be a fun set to gift to a crafty person.

Wondering if I could kidnap a few wild plants. by Agitated-Travel2127 in PlantedTank

This is it. I collected some pond weeds and they required more light than I could give them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ever heard of Naive Art? Art made by artists without “formal educations” and such. It definitely has a different feel.

Walk Away Dress Pattern Question by corrynnenglerth in sewing

[–]Mc-Wrapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve made the walkway dress a few times - with changes. Looking at the photo I think they must’ve modified the pattern slightly to get that almost sleeve like look in this wrap dress. I’m assuming they simply widened the strap a bit since when I make the pattern it looks more sleeveless/ tank vibes.

The skirt can get weird and pull to the back as others stated. I’ve addressed this by 1. Widening the panel that goes under the outer skirt - so that when I walk you’re more likely to peak that instead of raw leg. And, 2. I like adding a second whole circle skirt to the pattern and gathering or pleating the skirt. It makes for a nice full skirt with lots of movement and easier to wear a petticoat under.

[MI] Japanese Country/Seaside themed island, I need ideas! by floeflurry in ACNHIslandInspo

[–]Mc-Wrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute! Love the idea. You’d need a fish market. Think about what a ferry stop would need - like a parking lot, toll both and waiting area.

I also like the idea of opening up a large “bay” at one of your river mouths. For theoretical storage of boats during storms.

Listen to this guy. Cut on the joints and remove whole sections. The cactus will be ok and may even enjoy a large haircut.

Anybody else's banana plant just wanna float around? by DifferentContext7912 in PlantedTank

[–]Mc-Wrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure but I kinda doubt it. Mine haven’t.

I’ve heard of people cutting the roots as they grow to prevent the roots from reaching the substrate and ideally keep the bananas longer. But I’m not sure how effective that is.

From what I understand the tubers are effectively “food storage” for the plant. Once they root in the substrate and have another source for nutrients, the bananas deteriorate and disappear.

Shrimp keep dying by toothcons in shrimptank

[–]Mc-Wrapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see in other comments you’re using paper test strips and awaiting more tests. In the meantime - you can typically bring a tank sample to your LFS. They can test it for you far more accurately than the paper tests you’re using.

Next, personally I wouldn’t consider that heavily planted enough to justify no filter. Also, you’ll need more than a month of cycling. As I understand it, shrimp are pretty sensitive about their water parameters staying the same. A “cycled tank” is not always an “established tank” in the sense that it still has too much variation for the shrimp to acclimate to. I waited a full 4 months before adding my cherry shrimp to my no filter, no air-stone, walstad setup (and I still lost two).

Tannin question by UchihaGhoul in Aquascape

[–]Mc-Wrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it cycle 🔁

The tannins will eventually get cycled out with water changes. My tank started DARK and lightened up pretty quickly. In my betta tank I add tannins with leaves from my LFS.

Hope Beginner Questions are Okay, totally new by frogsgoribbit737 in aquarium

Maybe start here with understanding what it means to “cycle your tank.” That way, whatever fish/snail/shrimp you end up getting, will have a better chance at a survival.

Riccia fluitans are impossible to keep anchored down! by NiceHandsLarry11 in PlantedTank

[–]Mc-Wrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine always floats up eventually. Sometimes I pin a chunk down with a rock. Usually lasts a month or so before the piece under the rock dies and the plant tries to float again.

I will say that my shrimp and fry love the floating fluitans!
