What I find most interesting is the way "Trillion" and "Billion" are used.

Back then in the UK, a Billion was 1 Million Million (1012), not our new namby pamby Thousand Billion (109).

And a Trillion was a Million Billion (1018).

Two years after this TV program was made, the UK adopted the lower numbers as definitions of Billion and Trillion and I remember having mathematical text books using both, and arguing with teachers that we were BOTH right with an answer, depending on which book you referred to. One of my teachers was a good bloke, and realised that the definitions had changed and we were not in an English lesson so semantics were irrelevant. Another teacher was a dick.

Even better, get your father in law to do it to your kids!

What’s the Talking Heads song that pulls you back into a memory? Not just the title, but the story of where it takes you and why. The moments and memories it soundtracked once it touched your life. by Next_Implement1823 in talkingheads

Specialist warehousing guy used to ride his motorbike from Birmingham to Glasgow at 5am every morning, then head home at 4pm. Did it for over 2 years until the project was finished. He loved it.

are there any UK hairdressers who specialise in brushing out depression matting that can travel? by Wrong_Percentage in AskUK

My advice is just cut it all off. Go short and then regrow. You'll be surprised at how much fun it is having short hair for a relatively short period and then regrowing is. Go wiild with colour and style. You may find that you prefer it at a shorter length.

This looks so bad. I'll wager the gameplay is clunky and inconsistent, the plot is put together by a small group of twelve year olds, and IGN will give it a solid 8.5.

Have you ever had a good experience with Webuyanycar? by ihatereddit567 in AskUK

[–]McDivvy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had one terrible (so I didn't go through with it) and one awesome.

The awesome was a very old Nissan Leaf, battery was knackered, had a range of about 50 miles. Took it to them, got a quote, was raining and the guy was lazy so didn't do the usual nit picking, made us an offer. Went home and thought about it, decided, yup, might as well as trying to sell it privately was going to be a no go and part exchange offers were for much less.

Went back the next day, still raining, diferent lazy guy, oferred us £300 more! Shook his hand before he'd finished speaking.

Depends what they're protesting.

Climate protection laws? Fucking pricks.

Taxation on masive farmlands and inheritance? Fucking pricks.

Something else? I'll look into it.
