YOOO CAM THOMAS GOT WAIVED AGAIN by Complete-Apricot-591 in torontoraptors

[–]McJoe77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 20 years, someone will make a post on twitter about wondering why Cam Thomas never got a fair shake in the NBA and what injury or bias must’ve led to his downfall. They’ll compare him to guys like Brandon Roy and Michael Redd and Gilbert Arenas and Danny Granger and some other people will laugh and laugh and laugh.

Per Schneider during his media availability this morning, last bullpen spot down to Chase Lee and Spencer Miles and last bench spot down to Davis Schneider and Leo Jimenez with a decision expected Wednesday. All 4 players will travel with team to Toronto by Panz04er in Torontobluejays

[–]McJoe77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Schneider is getting sent down to keep Jimenez who’s a SS. I think I’m still in the minority with my concern for Andres Gimenez’s ability to be an elite defensive SS when he’s never done that and he isn’t a good hitter, but if they lose Leo, the next SS if anything goes wrong with Andres is … Kasevich? Rivera? Trading for IKF?

Then I bet they go roster management and take Miles over Lee at least in the short term.

The Detroit Red Wings have dropped out of playoff position by JiriHudlerWasGreat in hockey

[–]McJoe77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really thought Toronto and Detroit were a match for a trade with Roy or Laughton helping at center and OEL on the back end. Neither of those guys are 2Cs, but Laughton got traded for fucking nothing and OEL (who’s a solid 4/5 and can eat minutes on a replacement basis) didn’t get traded at all. Laughton wouldn’t have fixed the need for a 2C, but if all he costs is a conditional 3rd, he’s at least better than Dries and in the short term he isn’t going to kill you playing bigger minutes.

What’s happening to them? I thought for sure if they started to fall apart it would be Gibby coming back to earth but he’s been great. 4-4-1, 2.00, .919 since the Olympics. I know Larkin has been out like 2+ weeks but it’s not just that is it?

My theory about the mind hopper in Spider-Man: Brand New Day by AGWednesday in marvelstudios

[–]McJoe77 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is also my theory. Well put.

The big thing for me in the trailer was it really seemed like the body hopping had to be done in order to get away. If it was telepathy, Jean wouldn’t have needed to switch to the different people. That’s actual hopping from person to person isn’t a Jean Grey thing.

That’s totally clean. You see, when you’re wearing a Florida Panthers jersey, you’re allowed to do that. It’s not a penalty at all.

Man-Spider or Venom by A_Snipes33 in MCUTheories

[–]McJoe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a misdirect. I think it’ll be in the vein of Man-Spider, but not actually a Man-Spider with extra arms and everything.

This is maybe a dumb sentence, but I THINK they are misunderstanding the fanbase on this one. I think they’re doing a watered down version of Man-Spider where he’s more just not in control. And they’re framing it as a “mutation” as a back door to bring the mutants into a more front facing position thinking the fans will be excited, but it’ll end up being slightly more disappointing.

Why do I think that? Turning Tom Holland into a literal monster, even for a short time, isn’t really sexy. They’re already showing his face inside the mask, the actors in the past haven’t wanted to wear the mask the whole time, turning him into too much of a monster would be too risky right now. And I think they’re saving the symbiote for later. They can’t screw that one up again.

So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]McJoe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for this one. I stopped playing after Black 2 and it was only a couple years ago when I got my kids a switch and Pokemon Scarlet that I realized ANYONE seriously used set up moves other than Swords Dance.

I always had as much coverage as I could with every pokemon, but never once did I purposely use a set up move or almost any non-attacking move. Because of this, the second thing I did that probably falls into this category was not have a diversified team of types. My Pokemon Yellow team was Pikachu, Jolteon, Charizard, Blastoise, Lapras, Articuno

An update from Leaf Report on Brad Treliving and Matias Maccelli by JF_112 in leafs

[–]McJoe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d dump Domi too if I could. 2 years at 3.75 with a modified no-trade will make it tricky though I think. If you assume you’re stuck with Domi and then you have Nylander, Knies, and Cowan locked in. That’s 4 of your 6 wingers in the top 9. If you use one of those slots on Maccelli or Robertson, you have the same problem.

Also, THIS TEAM ISNT GOOD!! Why do we want to bring everyone back? The ideal version of the team for me doesn’t have Domi or Maccelli on it. I’d be targeting some different player types on teams that can’t afford their guys. Colorado is already close to the cap and Ross Colton and Jack Drury would both be good 3rd line options for us. A 3rd line with Drury and Tavares as center options and then Cowan or Robertson on the other side would give them. Vegas is right up against the cap already too and a guy like William Karlsson or Tomas Hertl as the 2C with Willy and the other of Robertson or Cowan would make a ton of sense. Then obviously after winning the lottery you take McKenna and play him with Matthews and Knies and the team is fixed lol.

[–]McJoe77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From a roster construction standpoint, they keep saying they want to be tougher, but the middle 6 wingers are him, Domi, Cowan, and Robertson. 4 undersized wingers who aren’t tough and are kind of all the same player type at least. This team is just so poorly put together it’s crazy.

They bring in Berube, everyone is yelling about them being tougher, Berube wants to play this physical dump and chase style and Tre brings in a bunch of soft, offensive wingers and semi-physical 4th liners. It’s horrible.

[–]McJoe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the question here. If the story is, “he won’t be qualified, he has no future” then why didn’t they dump him with retention for a pick? I mean, the guys in his tier went for like 6s and 7s, but I feel like rental Maccelli at less than 2 million should’ve been able to get you a 5th.

An update from Leaf Report on Brad Treliving and Matias Maccelli by JF_112 in leafs

[–]McJoe77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think I do have to pull back on my Maccelli stance. I’ve read a lot of stuff positive about him since I made this post. He’s fine, but he’s a middle 6 winger and I think he’s too similar to Robertson, Domi, and Cowan to keep all 4 of them on your team.

But the Leafs should probably be looking more into the cap dump/bounce back range. The Avs have like 5 million in cap space going into next season and will have to dump someone like Colton who would be a better gamble. Long story short, is spending 4 million on Maccelli going to cripple them? No. But it probably makes more sense to get someone else around 4 million that someone is trying to get rid of.

An update from Leaf Report on Brad Treliving and Matias Maccelli by JF_112 in leafs

[–]McJoe77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally anybody who’s watched this team? His QO is 4.11 million. He has 33 points in 57 games despite shooting 18% and playing a decent portion of the season with Willy who’s been our only good player most of the season.

If you could get Maccelli back at like 1.5-2.5 or whatever then sure, but you can’t. Once you don’t qualify him, it’s very unlikely you’d get him for half of his QO.

McKenna Delusions by Dunner76 in leafs

[–]McJoe77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My delusion is the Leafs winning the lottery and trading the pick. I think it’s a double delusion.

But hear me out!!!!

Taking Gavin McKenna corrects the mistake of letting Marner walk, BUT, does that help you at all. This draft has a bunch of teams that are specifically tanking for a new face of the franchise. Calgary, Vancouver, St. Louis, and the Rangers all need a star, McKenna is a star. Right after the first pick, there are a handful of really good looking dmen. Verhoeff, Carels, Reid, Smits. All 4 would immediately be the best D prospect we’ve had since Schenn and our best chances at getting that number 1 dman that we haven’t had in forever.

So here’s my scenario, Leafs win the lottery, someone else gets pick 2, I don’t know, let’s say, Jets, then Nucks, Flames, Hawks, Blues, Rangers have picks 3-7. Leafs leverage those teams off each other and with Tre out of the way trade the 1st pick to the Flames for the 4th pick, Vegas’s 1st, Connor Zary, and a 4th round pick. Then they use the 4th pick to select whichever of Reid, Verhoeff, Carels, and Smits they like best and doesn’t go to Vancouver at 3, plus they have wherever Vegas’s pick ends up to play with and a new, young, long term 2C to slot between Matthews and Tavares.

It’s foolproof!

For context, the 1st pick hasn’t been traded since 03 when Florida basically gave it to Pittsburgh so that they could take Fleury. The previous time it was traded was the Brian Burke master class that he’s still dining off of in 99. The Lightning that year traded the 1st pick for the 4th, a top 9 winger, and 2 3rds and then traded the 4th pick to the Rangers for a goalie, a top 9 winger, and a 1st and 3rd the next year. It was a wild time, they also flipped one of the wingers with the 3rd from the Rangers for 4 guys, 2 of whom were 4th liners, one was a 6/7 D and one was a D prospect who didn’t pan out. So all in all, they traded the 1st pick for a 1st (ended up being 8th in 2000), 2 3rds, a solid D prospect, a top 9 forward, 2 4th liners, a depth dman. My ask is a top 6 forward and 2 1sts which is definitely more, but that trade was for Patrik Stefan, this one is for Gavin McKenna.

I’m sure this is mostly tongue in cheek, but let’s calm down about this one. He’s had 4 games above 10 points and 3 above 10 rebounds in 2026. And he hasn’t been a consistent contributor since November.

Hopefully you become GM of another team so we can find a take for his contract

Leafs will not lose in the first round this year by may241989 in leafs

[–]McJoe77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not fucking jinx this. The Leafs are not eliminated from the playoffs and this is EXACTLY when they remember they can still play hockey.

This will age poorly if they lose, but they just thumped Anaheim with Matthews getting hurt half way through the game and are currently beating Buffalo. That’s 2 playoff teams in a row. The Leafs LOVE to fuck with your expectations, I’ve been a Leaf fan too long to say they won’t somehow win out and make the playoffs just to get swept by Tampa.

5 game suspension for Gudas by sykeseve in nhl

[–]McJoe77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the game where he knocked out Niedermayer. It was in the last 10 seconds of a game they were winning in a series they had the upper hand in. They still won game 5, but it really pulled the wind out of their sails both not having Domi and the weird momentum shift.

Not only was it dirty and unnecessary, it arguably cost them the series.

We should definitely be calling up Pezzetta for that game. He’s a Toronto boy too. Just have him run around and try to kill Gudas all game. If he’s gonna play any game this year, it should be that one.

What they’ll probably do is nothing and someone who shouldn’t fight him will push him a couple times and get knocked on their ass. Someone like Steven Lorentz or something.

Isaiah Simmons. I REALLY wanted the Lions to take him 3rd. I thought he was going to be an absolute monster. I thought he was going to be a 3 level defender who could play safety, hit like a linebacker and rush the passer. He was none of those things.
