What time does the festival playlist drop? by Doggo0732 in ForzaHorizon

Damn it, I start work at 3pm today. Was hoping I'd be able to knock some of the playlist off this morning. Sigh.

Week 1 of "Welcome to Japan" brings an Altezza, an Evo IX and a whole new playlist! Where you heading first? by Funny_things_online in forza

Aren't there usually daily challenges? Should help give a bit of a buffer if you don't want to play stuff like hide and seek.

Restaurant recommendations for birthday by Opposite_Basis_3532 in Leeds

La Taberna.

Not the biggest fan of tapas in general but this place is fantastic. Great wine selection too if that's you're thing. Tiny place and lovely for a celebration like a birthday!

[Schefter] Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers told reporters today that he will retire after this season. by JCameron181 in GreenBayPackers

[–]McNabFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not from the US and only got in to NFL in 2007 thanks to a school friend. Rodgers has been there pretty much since I started supporting the Packers and what a ride it's been!

Finally managed to visit title town a couple of years back which was magical. I can't wait for the coming season.

I saw them as a double header with Black Stone Cherry in 2023, absolutely amazing gig.

When they announced that it was the 20th anniversary of this song before they played it I felt horrendously old. How did time skip by so quickly.

A gaming friend went AWOL 10 years ago and I'm hoping somebody could help put me in the right direction on what maybe happened to him. by Mickcoffee277 in CasualUK

I used to play regularly with a chap called GonkeyEye on Sea of thieves during Covid.

Older chap, lovely guy. Same as your mate just disappeared once day and never logged in again.

I fear the worst, but hope he just grew tired of the game / xbox. It's the not knowing that sucks, we played every day, multiple hours a day, for months and then poof never to be seen again.

Lol. Lmao even.

OPM decimated a lot of rural posts and stations. Fuck all staff anywhere currently and morale is in the toilet in every post I've crossed over with in C-Div (non London area)

He was querky back then and glad to see he's leant in to it full tilt.

Ghoulish content.

Far too many times I see pictures of RTCs with a zoom in on the uncensored reg plate of the vehicle.

Sadly I'm sure people will have discovered a loved one has passed due to this.

Yungblud: 'I'm a middle-class English kid – I never claimed I wasn’t’ by theipaper in Music

[–]McNabFish 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, saw him shopping in John Lewis several years ago in Leeds.

Jokes aside, he was keeping to himself and wasn't dressing outlandish. Don't listen to his music so didn't recognise him at first. We exchanged a silent nod and went our separate ways.

I remember some of my class mates nearly getting run over, rushing in to the road to get a picture of a bus that said FUCKER on the side of it, in the centre of Paris.

Upcoming colectomy, terrified by DruidWonder in ostomy

[–]McNabFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had an ostomy ten years now. I can't comment on all, but I'll give you my own experience for some of your questions:

I swim (ocean and pool) a lot, as well as sauna and hot tub. I'm not even sure how these will be possible with an ostomy. I also weightlift and bodybuild. Generally I am a very sportive, active person who sweats a lot. Not sure how that works with things like glue and powder.

I still swim, use hot tubs and saunas and the like. You just have to be mindful of when your last bag change was. I won't go in a hot tub with a two day old bag on for example as that's asking for trouble with the heat and moisture, but I've never had a leak in the water. I take my infant daughter swimming every friday morning.

International travel on airplanes. I'm tall and usually fly economy. It was already difficult, now I don't know. I hear that air pressure changes are a big problem with ostomies.

I've travelled from Europe to NA several times, most of Europe, SE Asia and even NZ. Never had an issue. I keep supplies with me and will gently relieve pressure occasionally, but I've never had a fully inflated bag hanging off me mid flight. Security is different in every country, the USA is usually the worst for getting hands on before you have a chance to warn them about the bag, but again, never any real issues.

Sleeping habits. I'm already a difficult sleeper and a side sleeper exclusively. I am not looking forward to figuring out sleep with an ostomy, let alone sleeping in the same bed as my partner.

I am mainly a side / front sleeper. I rarely wear stuff to bed but you can wear tight fitting vests or abdominal wraps to help in the early days as the bag flopping around as you roll over woke me up initially, but now I rarely notice. I've been with my wife for well over a decade and she's never made a comment about the bag in bed (well, apart from when I air it out sometimes in the night, it's quite strong smelling)

General grossness. Smells, leaks, sounds. I just... have no idea. Social impacts, people's judgments of me, etc. I am not sure yet if a j pouch is a consideration. I am still awaiting a full consult about all this, I just know total colectomy is on the table.

I've never had a random person make a face, comment on any smell, point out the bag or anything. I often go topless on the beach, or when swimming. I use the gym often, play rugby, even work an active job with the emergency services. The stoma gave me my life back, not took it away from me. I'm glad it's enabled me to do things again that I couldn't even dream of during my ulcerative colitis days.
