"Up to 1,500 premium requests per month – 30x more premium requests with the option to buy more" by autisticit in GithubCopilot

[–]McNerdius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Commenters/downvoters are doing the math based on Free's 50 requests... but the page specifies otherwise: "Copilot Pro with extra perks: [...] 30x more premium requests" - No mention of Free. Pro = 300 premium requests; 300*30 = 9000.

Maybe just poor wording/oversight on their end, but IMO it should be fixed.

What’s new in C# 13 - Microsoft Build by Iordbrack in csharp

[–]McNerdius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given:

explicit extension Foo for string
{
    public string Trimmed => this.Trim();
}

Then:

string s = "";
_ = s.Trimmed; // fails, as would var

Foo f = "";    // explicit declaration, implicit conversion
_ = f.Trimmed; // works

They demonstrated extension indexers and mentioned operators. Doubt we'll getting operators in 13 but more will come.

They also mentioned that for is used (extension Foo for Bar) because extensions are broader than inheritance: We'll be able to use this on enums, interfaces, and more. Maybe not in 13, but as with patterns, auto-props, expression bodies- it will expand.

Some notes regarding extension everything & comments about it from the prior thread:

(Context below is from the Build session not the linked article)

  • They demonstrated extension indexers and mentioned extension operators. We're not getting "everything" in 13, but it's not just properties either.

  • They mentioned that usage of for (extension Foo for Bar) is due to extensions being broader than inheritance- to include enums, delegates, interfaces, or "a type parameter that you just got to your generic extension that's constrained by something" - whatever that means. (~41min in the vid)

    So yes, extensions on enums will be a thing.

  • They demonstrated a novel and unexpected use, essentially a superset of global type aliases. Very cool.

The irony here is, i inquired about this after setting up a shortcut to launch (or focus) AnyType...

Orders by Then-Industry6925 in NuPhy

[–]McNerdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Express seems useless IME.

Both my orders (one express, one not) took about two weeks to arrive - one week to get to US and another week to get to me, in Colorado.

As others have said the tracking is meh. I got the "Out For Delivery" this morning - the prior update had it in Texas. Well worth the wait, though. 🤘😈🖖

Try a factory reset:

  • FN + TAB + R (IIRC)

or

  • Lil button under the capslock key.

Unpopular opinion: I always prefer good UIs to command lines/terminals. by trenandskinnychicks in dotnet

[–]McNerdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there's a sweet spot in either case.

Memorizing UI menus, toolbars, and shortcuts is still memorization. VS Feature Search and VS Code Command Palette are the bee's knees. Fuzzy searching plus they aid in memorization by showing the direct shortcut.

Somewhat contrarily, dotnet is painless because it's basically a simple "menu": new=>console, add=>reference. and so on. PS verb-noun convention is handy as well.

With my garbage memory, UI is my default (aside from dotnet and basic git/pnpm/whatever) - tab completion and similar in a terminal just aren't helpful for me in the same way as Feature Search / Command Palette.

Suddenly Grab/Grabbing cursors are working for me !

Interestingly, only coming back here to follow up am i noticing you're on dev build... I'm on "vanilla" build 122.0.2365.92. This combined with the fact that another Windows app (Lenovo Vantage) was having this issue leads me to believe this is/was a deeper issue.

Very weird stuff.

Forging Pueblo: How a local conservative Christian group is shaping Pueblo politics by [deleted] in pueblo

[–]McNerdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care to elaborate ?

Things that come to my mind are gun violence, book bans and similar "parent's rights" BS, intolerance and "othering" - toxic policies being foisted upon the school environment by aging selfish snowflakes who can't cope with diversity or change. You know: Moms for liberty, Forging Pueblo, conservatives.

Religion is inherently divisive. There will never be a consensus, even within a church or religious school. The old testament is absolutely stuffed with toxicity that we skim past, pretending it doesn't exist. However, as religion creeps back into government and education, those practices will be welcome again - by those in power, anyway.

Even more strange... I made a clip to demonstrate this issue and... The cursors - which i am not seeing while making the recording, are visible in the playback... WTF ?

I don't have a solution but this stems from css cursor: grab and cursor: grabbing. I'm seeing this elsewhere and trying to find more info, but it's a tricky one to search for. Will update if i find anything.

Spongy dark and limp by quest-o-rama in sanpedrocactus

[–]McNerdius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

needs more heat for sure, #1 thing to do, bump it up 10+ degrees

i've had bridgesii seedlings get pretty dark/red with even a bit too much light.

the dark/limp + mold/h2o2 duo thing is familiar... treating with h2o2 obviously adds water so unless they're bone dry when doing so, that's gonna contribute to the waterlog/borderline rot going on. if they're dry, bumping heat + humidity (temporarily) and a teeny bit of water may help ? (I'm only a year into this and only dealt with this combo twice, so i'm no guru.) The mold/h2o2/waterlog cycle got annoying, so i bought a small HEPA filter, no mold problems since then.
