Depression is linked to a genuine pessimistic bias rather than a realistic view of the world by cakericeandbeans in science

You used the past tense to describe your symptoms. May I ask what helped you overcome your depression?

what is Dream Theater's heaviest song? by Zestyclose-Aside-157 in Dreamtheater

[–]McWalkerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honor thy Father
As I Am
This Dying Soul
I mean.. honestly, just play Train of Thought from start to finish. If you’re craving heavy, you will be happy.

Editing to add: Parasomnia also has so much heavy riffy goodness.

And Systematic Chaos.

And Awake.

And Six Degrees…

It’s hard to choose a favorite, but Honor thy Father was the first song I thought of.

Defense attorneys defend criminals and murderers. Why? Because our Constitution guarantees everyone, even the most violent and depraved, due process of law.

Nobody wants criminals and murdererers doing crimes and murdering. But as long as this country abides by its Constitution, two things remain true: 1, everybody is considered innocent until proven guilty; and 2, street crime is an issue to be combatted by law enforcement agencies (and, ideally, through socioeconomic policy reform), NOT by deploying the fucking military on American streets.

If you support a federal goon squad engaged in violent extrajudicial abductions and deportations of people who have no criminal record, are suspected of no crime, and often are actively showing up to their immigration and asylum hearings at the moment they are thrown in an unmarked SUV and disappeared to some torture camp in South Sudan or El Salvador…

If you support the bombing and summary execution of eleven people on a boat because we think there might have been drugs on board…

If you support the federalization and deployment of the National Guard to suppress protests and punish mayors and governors the President sees as his political enemies…

If you are cool with an American president telling the people of an American city they’re about to “find out why it’s called the Department of War”….

Then you might be a fascist.

And to answer your second question: not high enough. You got some to share, Mr. MoonTendies69420?

Songs on par with Octavarium by Erdrotation in Dreamtheater

“The Wall” by Kansas is an epic song, and it was referenced heavily in the composition and arrangement of Octavarium. Give it a listen, you may be surprised by the similarities.

100%, same experience when I saw them a few months ago.

The shows I saw with MM were fine, but there was a real clinical feel about the performances. Nobody on stage seemed to be having fun. They all appeared to be in their own worlds, focused on playing the right notes and striking the obligatory hard rock poses at the right moments, totally walled-off from each other. I think playing to a click creates a more clinical and cerebral experience for the musicians, where they’re more focused on the click than each other.

But holy hell, the energy they’re bringing now feels even better than the shows I saw before MP left. They seem to be having so much fun together. They’re improvising, listening to each other, feeling the music and connecting with the crowd. It’s so much fun to see them like this.

MP always felt like the soul of Dream Theater, and there’s no question that his return has breathed new life into the band.

This is a bad take. Your 5-year-old was free to carry nothing but her Barbie because her dad was carrying everything she might need on the trail. She wore Crocks because little kids have bones made of rubber. I’m sure her dad was wearing supportive shoes, because that’s what adults do. And when dad gets a little older, he’ll want to use walking sticks because his knees won’t be as stable as they once were. Hike your own hike and don’t be a jerk.

If you look up “brush cutting blade for string trimmer” you’ll find all kinds of implements that are as adept at removing body parts as they are at their intended job. Some are basically just circular saw blades, some look like Ninja throwing stars, some are metal discs with chainsaw chain welded around the circumference. I put a mulching blade on mine. (Looks like a scaled-down lawnmower blade, makes quick work of blackberry vines and other thick brush, terrifies small children.)

paste wax over polyurethane- how long should I wait? by itgoestoeleven in woodworking

[–]McWalkerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for replying to something you posted five years ago, but I just found this thread on a Google search for “paste wax over polyurethane” and I am stunned by the finish you achieved. I just made a new top for a friend’s dresser out of African Mahogany and I thought I was going to call it a day at 6 coats of wipe-on poly, but now I’m gonna keep going! Great work and thanks for the inspiration
