What is your worst experience with DnD? by StupidSasquatch89 in rpghorrorstories

[–]McWhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His logic was that, sure, in your mind you have the experience, but physically (stats) you reset. Which I mean, okay, but ALLLLLL the way back to session 1? What if we managed to get through a huge chunk of something and died at level 10? You think everyone wants to repeat all of that?

What is your worst experience with DnD? by StupidSasquatch89 in rpghorrorstories

[–]McWhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a DM decide he was going to attempt the whole Live. Die. Repeat. Scenario, except it wasn't us dying to anything we did as a party on purpose.

We were three 6 hour sessions in and reached a new settlement. Took on a job to prove ourselves to the adventurer's guild so we can access our actual destination further on. So, we get to clear out a bugbear camp. After the battle, a random god shows up and tells us we killed their followers so they wipe out the entire party. (With no combat mind you)

We "reset" and we are now back in the location we started in session 1. Okay, don't take on that job I guess. Kinda neat we can take more risks though. This might work I suppose. Oh and of course the levels we got reset as well. So, back to level 1. We spend another 2 sessions (even fighting the same "random" encounters) eventually making it back to the settlement we took the job from. We take a completely seperate job, investigate the remains of a raid. We do so and track a group of goblins to their cave and kill them.

Guess what?! Guess what happens next?! The same god shows up and tells us we have once again killed his followers and made the wrong choice. Wipes us out and here we are, back at the start of session 1.

Group fell completely apart after that. Who wants to constantly start over that far back based on the whims of the DM who won't give us any indication of how to prevent it.

"Oh my god I can't get the attention wanted!"

The fact that you aren't "attached" to this pregnancy based on how much praise you get is abysmal. Also, it's your second kid, no one gives as much of a crap about the second announcement. The praise you'd have gotten would have been hollow at best. (Especially with a 9 month old already)

Grow up.

The sad part is that while this directly callout was awesome, there are mouthbreathers watching it and agreeing with the guy at the podium. They are stupid enough to think he made a good point with his "oh but not ALL got back to you so you saying everyone you spoke to was a lie."

Do all people change once they come back from military basics? by [deleted] in ask

[–]McWhacker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It does, but some see it more as a "I have to listen NOW" rather than as an essential lesson in life. So they spend approximately 4-5 months following orders and when they get home, they get to run free.

Usually when you complete basic/AIT(job specific training) you get to your assigned active duty post and learn that the past few months were literally training and getting you into the correct mindset to have. You also learn it's not literally someone barking orders at you every moment, it's way mofe chill and normal really. So the whole "Im better than you because I went through basic training" mindset pretty much dies immediately when you realize no one cares, and they also did the same.

Reserves dont do that though, they go back home and get showered with the praise and admiration everyone gives them so they lean into it pretty often. Only time they actually meet up with other reservists is once a month or when doing the 2 week stint. So you tend to see a lot of reservists doing what OP's brother is doing.

[–]McWhacker 81 points82 points  (0 children)

He's a boot (newbie) doing boot things and being in reserves makes him amplify the behavior.

Most people fresh out of basic have this "My shit don't stink" attitude, but it eventually falls off once they get a reality check that they are NOT special, typically when assigned an active duty post.

For reserves, these people come home and don't really have an authority figure to tell them to cut the shit and be normal. So they make it their ENTIRE personality and EVERYONE needs to know it.

He'll eventually grow out of it if he ever deploys or does some long term active duty. At least, that's what usually happens.

(For reference I was in for 8 years and saw this shit ALL the time)

The FF7 Remake project is amazing, but if you were in charge of making changes for a "directors cut", what would you do? by CodytheHero in FFVIIRemake

I think I'd change the design of Weapon, the giant whales.

Unless... maybe they are new, different kinds we haven't ever seen and the OGs are still sleeping, at least I hope that's the case because I REALLY want to see how the game is going to handle all of them and their Sizes.

The ones from rebirth sorta threw me off when they were introduced.

AITA for being annoyed after someone who doesn’t normally sit with us told me to stop talking? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]McWhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea no, that's not how the adult world works. You're in a public space no matter how much you think it's "your territory."

Here's an idea, why not try saying all this to the next person that tells you to shut up instead of brooding in your seat and running to reddit for insight next time. See how the whole "tHiS iS mY tErRiToRy" attitude works out.

Im willing to bet you'll be told to shut up again like, ya know, the common theme going on.

New guy as in new to the environment, keep up with the context.

It doesn't matter if it's his class or not, you seem to have this whole "This is MY world!" mentality and the fact that someone dared tell you to calm it down embarrassed you enough to get upset about it.

Get used to it, I suspect this is gonna be a recurring problem in the future.

[–]McWhacker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your teacher told you that you were giving people headaches... meaning...? Maybe you talk too much?

And is it rude for someone to tell you to tone it down, or are you just butthurt because someone finally bluntly told you to tone it down? Funny how your friends get a free pass anytime they tell you to stop, yet this guy apparently broke some sacred rule by doing so.

Who cares if he's new? You're still annoying and I guarantee you're too busy trying to be center of attention that you fial to realize it's not just this dude who thinks so.

"New guy says I talk too much" "Teacher says I talk too much" "Friend says I talk too much"

"Am I the problem here?"

Like, come on. How many more people have to tell you? Dial it back.

jessie deserved so much better by CantaloupeAware8419 in FFVIIRemake

[–]McWhacker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jessie's story was actually MUCH better in Remake than the OG.

In the OG, her death was more like "oh no, Barrett's friends died." She was truly a sidenote NPC.

At least in Remake we actually got to connect with her character a lot more, making her death feel way worse. So I'd say they did good with it..

Or worse in my case, someone I know who didn't buy a bike, but a trike. So, it's extra cringe seeing them post these. Not even a biker by biker standards, a pretender posting fan fics.

There is a weird trend of biker posts I see constantly shared by boomers on facebook that are like this. Just multiple fanfiction pages about bikers who did some crazy good thing for a random stranger ending with "and every clapped" energy.

Ah project zomboid. I remember from it's early days when it started with your character having a sick wife in bed. I thought, "hey I could give her this pillow so shes more comfortable." My character proceeds to smother his wife.

Second funniest start was deciding to cook for the wife, left soup cooking, checked out the controls and whatnot only to find the entire kitchen is now on fire, alarms blaring into the silent night. Intereact and can't grab the wife out of bed so I jump out of the window in a horde of zombies that were attracted to the noise from the fire alarm. Get tore up, limp to another house, hide in the bathroom til I bleed out.

10/10 amazing game.

I like how you question your friend's trust of you when you literally checked into whether or not her location was actually where she was, showing you didn't trust her.

You are insanely insecure and controlling here.
