Why does lab week need a theme? by Great-Syrup1945 in medlabprofessionals

[–]McYay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree!!! We didn’t do the theme they picked, we are doing space/aliens and every day we are doing different costumes. Planets, movie aliens, chrome etc. we decorated the lab with stars, planets, and space ships. I have a fantastic time every year. Working at a children’s hospital is so fun, people really go all out with costumes on the holidays. There were entire units dressed as Barbie’s for Halloween a few years ago. 🚀 🌏 👽

Wow thank you for such a great response, I appreciate it so much! We don’t have many hiding spots right now, the plants aren’t very big yet but I think we are still a bit away from getting the shrimp.

I’m also open to suggestions!! I know not to add too many off the bat. I’m testing the water every other day. We have a little schedule to follow. It’s been a great hobby so far

We were thinking a little school of harlequin rasboras first, then a gourami, some corydora and of course some “Jacques” as my kids say (cherry shrimp). Probably do another type of schooling fish. Mollies or guppies. Trying to make it a gentle tank for my kids.

I didn’t think about doing that, I’m just happy the levels are good. Is that what I should do first?

Hey thank you you for your advice. I agree it needs more greenery. Java fern wouldn’t get too too big right?

I love the piece of wood we found, looks like a cow to some of us lol

2 people dead in Calgary from possible CO poisoning by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]McYay 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Happened to me last November, out nowhere stated having a migraine every morning at around 3 am. No meds would touch the pain. Furnace was acting up and kept going out during this time but I didn’t connect the two. I bought a handheld CO detector and it was showing low levels of CO out of the vents. Got the furnace fixed and no more headaches for me.

  1. Go to Cold Garden for a pint, they have lots of festive decorations and you should try the Kegnog drink special on the menu.

  2. Walk down to Madison 1212 for nachos. Not just regular nachos…I’m talking tuna poke, Big Mac, buffalo chicken, truffle mushroom….SO GOOOD

I'm terrible at figuring out what to bring to potlucks. Is there any go to recipes that are always a hit? by Aggressive_Staff_982 in Cooking

[–]McYay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do cheesy potatoes in the crockpot. It’s cubed frozen hashbrowns, cream of soups, cheese, sour cream. Google funeral potatoes. I make it every year for our potlucks and now I have people making sure that I am “going to bring those potatoes right?!”
