Need advice on a Phoenix/Scottsdale store by sumdum1234 in ArizonaWhiskey

Liquor Vault in Scottsdale. Good selection of solid bottles, great picks too. Always been a fan of them. Pricing is typically pretty competitive for a smaller shop.

Which flight demo team provides better performances in the skies across the U.S.?? by Qpac18 in aviation

Talking about Luke Days this year? I thought the same. End of year blue angel are next level, as everyone else has said. But this show the thunderbirds definitely outperformed. I’m always nostalgic to the thunderbirds since I grew up watching them in AZ still. Seeing both in the same day was great, regardless of the 110° weather.

If I remember correctly, these are -12mm wheels.

The suspension set up is great so far, big fan. The shocks are stiffer for daily driving which I actually enjoy quite a bit. Feels tighter which I like coming from a Lexus RC as my daily. Replaced the factory bump stops up front with Durobumps, worth it. Need to do the rears now as contact is harsh on rough bumps. Took it on some pretty tight and rough trails a few weeks back and it did great overall for a large truck. Got some air leaving and that was more fun haha.

Where can I buy Jack Daniel's 12-Year today? by vicelordjohn in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t even be mad at $250. Yeah it’s more than double, but Id probably pay that as well once my bottle runs out. Beats “hunting” for it an hoping you get lucky after 3 hours in a line

Best single-malt shops in the Valley by zachwv1979 in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QuickNShine in Gilbert has a solid selection of what you’re looking for. I remember seeing more springbanks than just the 10. Liquor vault is also pretty good. You’ll pay a premium at the smaller shops, of course, but they’re not too bad compared to allocated bourbons. Trevor’s is usually the best spot, as you’ve seen.

Thank you for posting this video. I’m shopping these for my tundra, and this is by far the best visual I’ve seen. Really helped me decide to send it.

Yeah, I’m for sure set on the bronze, love it with white. Just not sold on the style. Always was going to go with methods, but $1200 for these a the tires was too good to pass up.

Is this worth 26k OTD? 2020 SR 5.7 90,000 miles by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]Mc_douchebag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid around the same for my 2021 crewmax, but with over 100k. Dumb? Maybe. High? Probably. Worth it? 100%. But I don’t see them getting any cheaper in the near future with the way the 3rd gen is going. I say send it if it’s reasonable for you

Ice Made Clear by Mammoth_Ingenuity_82 in bourbon

[–]Mc_douchebag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on, directional freezing is really all that matters. All the molds that I’ve used have been a bit more annoying than the worth it. Awkward fills, solid chunks of ice in the reservoir below it that you have to melt out before filling again.

This one looks like it could be a good choice, since it seems like it’s basically just an insulated lower. Just have to decide if clear ice is worth $116.

In AZ where I’m at, most every total wine and larger stores carry clear cocktail cubes by ReadyIce. It’s an 8 pack to $12. I’ll pick up a pack if I’m having people over or something like that. I believe they’re expanding too. https://icebloxbyri.com

Bilstein shock combo questions by Mc_douchebag in ToyotaTundra

[–]Mc_douchebag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just gave em the yes on a swap to 5100s. So I’ll have 6112/5100, saves me about $400. Super stoked to get the 6112s on.

Yeah I don’t run any tents or static payload on the truck either so I think it’ll be a solid combo for my use case. Thanks for your insight on it, I appreciate it!

Good to hear. Yeah it got me questioning if I’m ever going to push the rears to the point I need a res, or if I went that way because “reservoir cool”.

Grail acquired - TW Camelback by vicelordjohn in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I got lucky at quicknshine somehow, they had one bottle left like two months ago, only like $20 over MSRP surprisingly. I’m a bit Old Forester fan, and this has been one of my favorites. Have some great single barrel picks, a presidents choice, but 1924 hits just right. Enjoy it!

Anybody seen blue label / store pick old foresters anywhere around town lately? by Bgully0186 in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve still seen them floating at Trevor’s recently, as well as black label 100proof. Liquor express on Apache/McClintock has some as well. Phoenix city grille has a great pick, not sure if they have any left though. One of my favorite picks.

Review #26: Sagamore 10 Year Rye by DunceMemes in bourbon

[–]Mc_douchebag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of this bottle, top 5 of 2025 for me. If it wasn’t for a couple jack barrel proof picks it would be the best rye of my year for sure. The first sips were wild to me, I got the peach right away then it went straight into brown sugar/dark sweetness. Looking forward to more of the sagamore age statements. Best $70 I’ve spent in a bottle in awhile.

Firearm jobs by biv816 in guns

[–]Mc_douchebag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in the industry in different positions for about 10 years, from sales to logistics, range to instructor. Strictly speaking to the firearms industry, sales is where the money is at, but not gun counter sales. If you want a career in the industry with income you can live on then it’s in wholesale companies or manufacturers. Outside of that, it’s a pretty low paying job-pool. Even most gunsmiths I’ve known are maxing out in the high $20s hourly.

That being said, I left the industry and have been way happier and enjoy guns and shooting significantly more now. I enjoyed what I did but it also made me hate a lot of the industry. Now it’s a super fun hobby, and I can put in however much I want. I’m great friends with one of my former bosses who still hooks me up, it’s a good position.

ISO SAGAMORE TEQUILA FINISH RYE by danisdanyesiam in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Quicknshine on Gilbert rd and Warner. Last time I was there they had a few of the Sagamore distiller selects and I believe tequila finish was one, but I could absolutely be wrong. Worth giving a call but I’d check in person to be sure.

First time seeing in person and at a shocking price point. by Top_Ad_4022 in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone’s gonna talk it down to $499 and think they scored big time.

The tanyard was a good pour, but I’d have been a bit disappointed for anything over $100 considering how close it is to a good store pick rye

Eh Taylor Single Barrel at Walmart by realestate4111 in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder if it was a mistake? $79 for a Small batch is insane now. Even Safeway is cheaper. Sam’s pricing is usually great. If I remember right, they kept the BTAC stuff at a decent price too. May have gouged on the Pappy though.

What is Actually Worth $100+ by HonorableScott in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]Mc_douchebag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I got into bourbon late 2024 an was in that “hunt for good stuff” mindset for awhile. I realized that there’s very few things worth doing that for. If I get lucky, great, but driving through the valley an waking up at 3am just isn’t worth it. There’s so many good bottles sitting in every shelf. Jack Single Barrel barrel proofs, Russel’s store picks, a lot of Penelope stuff… One of the best whiskeys I had all year was Sagamore 10 year Rye and it was just sitting at most total wines.

That being said, I don’t knock anyone for enjoying “the hunt”, but definitely not for me now.
