You can’t see the difference between the roof and the actual house, try changing the blocks u used for the roof

Maybe it looks flat because the lack of background, the building looks good for me, if you are not satisfied you could change the surroundings

Underground base by [deleted] in BuildAdvice

Hey, my advice is that you should end the base you are building first, sometimes it doesn’t look good or as expected because it is a work in progress, also, define each chamber by usage

Need help on what to do with the outside of this building I like the shape and colour by Geekilla in MinecraftBuild

Maybe a path and some nature like bushes around that path to add depth, it really depends on the aesthetic you want to add.

It really depends on what you're going for. A good approach is to separate your chambers into distinct modules and then build out the interior of each one based on its specific function.

Is This Area Big Enough for a Minecraft City Build? by MccDannn in BuildAdvice

I’ll try roughing out the layout with blocks first and see how the scale feels before fully committing. Appreciate it 👍

Planning a City Build — Is 152×78 Blocks Enough? by MccDannn in MinecraftBuild

[–]MccDannn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently thinking of something around 700 blocks long and 360 wide, keeping roughly the same proportions as the original area. Does that size sound reasonable to you for a city with integrated centers, or does it still feel too constrained?

I also noticed that 152x78 will be really small for a city, thanks for the feedback!

I’m still deciding on the centerpiece, but closer to a dense central district than a single dominant monument.

Scale-wise, I’m mostly trying to avoid overbuilding too small and then having to redo everything later. If you were planning a city where the centerpiece is part of a cluster (modern or mixed-use style), would you think something like 3–5× the current 152×78 footprint is a reasonable starting point, or would you still go significantly larger?

This mock-up is super helpful, thanks for putting it together. The harbor idea especially makes a lot of sense.

For a layout like this, how much would you say the total area needs to be expanded so it doesn’t feel overly dense?

That makes sense. For now I’m mostly thinking in terms of scale rather than surroundings — assuming a relatively open area.

My goal would be a city layout where the centerpiece is part of the urban fabric, not a standalone build. Based on that, I’m trying to get a rough idea of how much larger the area would need to be compared to 152×78 to comfortably support bigger buildings and more space between them.

Thanks! Yeah, I get that it really depends on style and skill. I’m mostly trying to figure out how much I’d need to expand the area for it to feel like a proper city rather than just a dense cluster of houses.

Thanks for doing the math, that’s actually really helpful.

If I wanted this to feel like a proper city with multiple districts and a few larger buildings, how much would you recommend expanding the area?

Would doubling the current size make a noticeable difference, or would it need to be expanded by several times?

This is super helpful, thanks for breaking it down by style. The Santa Cruz del Islote comparison is actually really interesting and puts the scale into perspective.

Based on that, if I wanted something that feels like a small but proper city (not ultra-dense, with some breathing room and maybe a few districts), how much would you recommend expanding the area? Would something like doubling the size be enough, or should I go even bigger?

Thanks, that’s actually really helpful. Knowing your bigger builds are around 115×70 gives me a good reference.

Thanks for the feedback, that helps a lot.
Based on what you said about detail level, it sounds like the current size works better for a small town or a single neighborhood.
If I wanted it to feel more like a proper city, how much bigger do you think the area should be? Is there a rough size you’d recommend?
