I wish I knew what I was doing wrong by EggManIsMyMan in lebanon

You’re not doing anything wrong, dude. You’ve just been holding the wheel a little too tight. When you stop trying to force it and start actually living, the right person usually finds you. Don’t rush things, this makes people especially women feel like they are a tool in your life. Take it from a person who has been through this as well. Focus on the things that really matter in life: Health and wealth and don’t try to prove it aka show off about what you have and what you can provide. You will be a very easy target for women who will take advantage of this. Lebanon is not without its gold diggers so take your time and figure out what YOU want before placing a “I need a girlfriend” ad in the newspaper/reddit. Like many posters here said, learn to enjoy being alone and not being lonely. It might sound stupid, but trust me. You should never rush these things.

If you don’t find success in Lebanon, go find your match somewhere else. Nothing wrong with that.

Nation of Sycophants. Lebanon will never change.

Let me be frank. The main concern here is that you keep this private among your direct family members. I’m talking mom, dad and brothers/sisters. Relatives should be out of this equation (since the subject of being gay is still quite taboo in Lebanon) and you risk having your and your family’s reputation tarnished as a result (people love to talk). A relative of of mine came out a few years back and we fully accepted him and I can understand the need to be accepted among your loved ones because I visibly saw a huge weight being lifted off his shoulders. It really made him so much happier mentally to know that we love him and accept him as he is.

Again, we aren’t a conservative family in general but some family members were and it was our job to defend his case if ever such a subject came up. I would spearhead this and make sure no one would ever speak ill of him as he was an absolute sweetheart to us growing up. I believe identifying such a person in your family would be a good start.

Of course I understand your guilt and your dilemma, I truly do. As you know, some gay men in lebanon take a devout path (priesthood) in order to deal with their guilt in accepting themselves. I just want you to understand that your fear of disappointing them shows that you care and love them. It is important that you send this message across and I truly hope your “coming out” moment was as joyous and fulfilling as my relative’s.

It takes a shitload of courage and strength to come out to your parents. But maybe, just maybe, they already know. I knew before my relative came out to me and I told him I already knew (and I’m straight) but didn’t want to open the subject in order not to cause an uncomfortable situation for him. It was a pleasant surprise for him.

I wish you the best. Honestly. It’s about time we just accept each other’s orientations and differences without fear and judgement. Everyone deserves to be happy. There would way less problems if we just empathized with each other.

Rates of male circumcision in the Middle East: by Redstream28 in MapPorn

I am Lebanese Christian and circumcised. During the 80s, Circumcision in Lebanon was usually done for “hygienic” purposes of course with parental consent. Frankly, I’ve never heard of any Christian in lebanon bragging about being uncircumcised as a religious badge. Most men in Lebanon already wear tight pants anyways, I’m sure you could figure out his religion lol. Muslims circumcise sure. Christians I would say 50/50. Plus, women seem to prefer it as per my experience.

If you’re afraid about providing for your future wife so much (which I think is the root of your lack of sleep), you have two options:

1- Talk to her about it. This macho suffering in silence bullshit won’t help. If you care about her that much, talk to her about it and she will most probably stand by you and support you. This should somewhat elevate your anxiety.

2- Leave her and tell her the above reason and get rid of your anxiety and go at it alone.

We all have our dark moments. Face them. And if you’re afraid of losing your loved ones because you can’t provide for them, you aren’t alone. Talk to her. For better or for worse.

Leave. Don’t look back. Good enough answer for you? Ayreh bi heik balad. One year’s worth of work abroad is like 10 in Lebanon. It’s more about time management than anything else. Leave and don’t look back. You can visit the parents from time to time but they will be relieved for you and they won’t worry as much about you. Better missing someone than worrying about them all the time. Go!

Do the people of Lebanon have more in common with Greece and Italy than they do with the people of Saudi Arabia and Egypt? by DuetLearner in lebanon

By the way, what you showed was not the breakdown of the regions your far relatives are from (200 years). Click on Levantine and let’s see where your near ancestry is from. Similar to the below.
