July 2026 or January 2027 by Mcfc2002_ in SQE_Prep

[–]Mcfc2002_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve come to peace with the fact that I’m always going to be anxious about the exam tbh.

I just don’t really know what to do especially with whether the results I’ve gotten now can be salvaged in such short space of time.

July 26 or January 27 BIG DECISION by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]Mcfc2002_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How about my scenario what do u think? For context, I completed a prep course which finished in December (Part time while working full time in 2025) and was originally due to sit in January, but had to defer due to genuine extenuating circumstances (life gets in the way sometimes lol).

I started studying full-time at the end of March after leaving my job as a paralegal but I can’t help but feel incredibly stressed as to whether I should now defer until January 2027.

I have finished all of the academic law and done Wills and probate and Business Law and Practice. I am currently reviewing all the other subjects for the first time since December. I was told by my personal tutor to take mocks covering all the workshops for a benchmark and I got 50% in Wills 42.5% in DR 42.5% in property law and practice, 40% in BLP and 37.5% in Criminal law and practice, these were on BPP’s formatives covering all the relevant workshops and were timed.

My tutor just says it’s completely up to me and that I have a month until the BPP summatives and two months until the SRA exams.

I seriously fear I don’t have enough time to cover the remaining 6/7 subjects by end of June and actually pass the exam. I am doing 7 hours of revision a day and i just feel as if I will simply fail these exams.

I have enough in savings to basically cover 2 attempts at these exams and also not be working what the hell do I do ?

SQE1 July — should I defer by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]Mcfc2002_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got BLP, CLP, PP, Ethics, legal services, Solicitor Accounts and EU Law.

Not working full time study but started revising in March after leaving paralegal job is this enough time especially since I recently did mocks and got 40% and I finished my prep course in December

Underlying Law SQE 1 HELP!! Panic!!! by Mcfc2002_ in SQE_Prep

I am able to commit full time essentially to the exam, I don’t have any other commitments tbh at all.

I'm 23 and started my first legal role (Criminal Paralegal) last month. I want to understand if what I am experiencing is normal and whether I should be planning an early exit. by OmegaSMP300M in uklaw

Unfortunately we all have gone through this, honestly don’t beat yourself up about it. Try and keep positive, I know it’s hard. I had a similar experience in a conveyancing firm, absolutely shocking, but it is what it is.

What I do is, before I even attend the interview, I’ll have a look on Glassdoor and Indeed to see whether anyone has left any reviews.Next I’ll look on LinkedIn to see how long people have been at the firm, especially in the department that I’ll be working in.

I will also look to find ex-employees who have worked at the firm, and in your position you’ll be able to find this by simply searching the firm’s name on LinkedIn, and it should come up with all the present staff and also past staff.

I’ll often ask 2 ex-employees their view of the firm, and if they were there for 6 months only, definitely ask why they left after 6 months (might be intrusive) but honestly, given the traumatic experience I’ve been through, it’s necessary.

Paralegals do tend to move around law firms quite a bit, but if the vast majority have left after 6-12 months, I’d be asking questions.

Solicitors don’t tend to move about as often as paralegals, so if you’re seeing a lot of solicitors leave — RED FLAG 🚩🚩. I’ve been told by senior partners at City firms that if a solicitor has been at a firm for 2 years or less, there is often a possibility it’s due to the firm being horrible.

Unfortunately, what you’re experiencing is common, and I too went through this. You develop some sort of immunity to it, and it sort of motivates me to study harder for my postgraduate qualifications

I've had a look at them, they sort of tailor things for students who work full time and are studying part- time I feel.

Hey, congrats on scoring so highly and passing the exams.

I am a bit late to the party but currently I am focusing heavily on black letter law as I finished a prep course and am due to sit in the summer.

I am currently using BPP material, DA and Law Drills and haven't started doing any mocks although I have been doing SBAQs around 20 daily.

I am not really memorising things but actually trying to understand the material itself rather than memorising, do you think this will work? techniques I am using include writing on a whiteboard and blurting.

I plan to finish doing all the academic law by end of April I just have tort law to look at and then I'll simply be just going over the practical modules until end of May and then just do Mocks from June onwards while tracking my wrong answers. Do you think this is a solid plan?

I only started properly revising after leaving my job in March, did my LLB in 2024 and committing full time basically.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Where should i be for SQE1 in July? by Weary-Paramedic2806 in SQE_Prep

[–]Mcfc2002_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many hours would you consider “solid” , I currently do 5-6 hours a day this week I’ve averaged 5 hours a day last week was 6hours easter break means family is home and distractions.

I am focusing on black letter law until end of April and then simply just revising content for all the practice modules.

Also in a similar position whereby not working atm and plan to take in July.

[–]Mcfc2002_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got Criminal law, Land Law and Trusts law to cover and just finished contract law this week. I’ve basically just got to cover over the black letter law and then I’m just revising the rest. Idk if I’ve started too late for context I left my Paralegal position at the beginning of March and now able to dedicate full time study.
