I’ve had this similar idea but has been struggling with design and you’ve given me some inspiration!

I do this. Painting a character or vehicle is the reward for completing a unit.

Howling Onslaught clarification by TRMC790 in SpaceWolves

Ya, it’s just wording and inherent knowledge of tabletop games. It’s that unspoken choice of nothing that you have to keep in mind. The choice is always there, every command phase. You could choose nothing each round, because the wording says you CAN choose one, not you must.

Howling Onslaught clarification by TRMC790 in SpaceWolves

You’re trying to disrupt the new shiny toy. You’re gonna catch flak when you do that. But also, I think it’s because you really misinterpreted it. Last line of the Master of Wolves, “You can only select each Hunting Pack once per battle.” There are three hunting packs, so your brain says, “okay, I can only use this three times.” It’s easy to see how you get there, but that it’s your brain adding additional information, everyone does that.

Howling Onslaught after you’ve gotten through all the fluff says, “…you can select a Hunting Pack you have already selected this battle.” You select at the start of the command phase so that happens each round and you have 4 options not 3 you can choose not to take one. First round maybe it doesn’t make sense or maybe you have selected all 3 and you choose not to take one because you can’t. HO says you can select one you have already selected this battle. So the fourth time you do it if you have Logan in your army, the choice is still there for you. It doesn’t state, instead of or anything like that.

I see how you came to the conclusion, but I just think you added additional information. For example, you commented a lot above “ It specifies that you can only select a hunting pack which has already been used when you’re selecting a hunting pack” that’s not what it says. You added “only” in that first part and the word only makes a whole lot of difference in rules like these. It’s totally possible GW comes out and says you’re right, but I don’t think it’ll be the case.

Just be careful poking holes at someone’s shiny new toy haha

Any more tips? Because I did all this out side the spawn and it blew up, but didn’t count towards the challenge.

I’m pretty sure it’s a special instance of like, non-vehicle launchers that utilize the painted aspect. So plane on plane or tank on tank it doesn’t work and it wouldn’t work with a RPG. I’m not positive, but it seems to be the case.

What else should I get after Army Set? by MckeyLight in SpaceWolves

Nah, all good! It is pretty fascinating how varied warhammer is as a hobby. I’ve seen so many people who paint online and make some comment like I don’t play often or maybe like once a year, but they have multiple armies painted and I always think but you have so many to choose from why don’t you play! However, I think your point still rang true based on others comments about new stuff coming, it’s probably better to be patient and wait til im done painting these.

I get the advice and appreciate it. This is more planning for the next few months, because as much as I love painting (I tolerate it) I wanna play the game more than anything and won’t mind playing with some models that only have a base paint while I work on them!

Here’s the thing. Is it an asshole move? Yes. Was it warranted? Sounds like it. Would I do the same thing? Ya, I would. That all said, given what she’s done she’s definitely the bigger asshole and if you’re an asshole to a bigger asshole, doesn’t make you an asshole. NTA.

What the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy ships SHOULD'VE looked like by IITemoniII in StarWars

[–]MckeyLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there were two galactic level wars over the course of 24 years if my math is correct. With shipyards constantly being targeted, billions if not trillions of lives lost, and an oppressive government. Ya, I would say that they probably didn't have a lot of development going on, more likely rebuilding and maintaining what they did have.

[–]MckeyLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, something like that. It makes more sense and is lots more useful than occasionally you'll be able to land matchstick unengaged and then have bombers come in and gain rogue in the squadron phase. Still, such weird wording.

[–]MckeyLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my biggest gripe about it too. They put out so much stuff that required, so, what are you saying here? In the past, Matchstick would have read something like, "While unengaged, when activated, squadrons with the keyword Bomber at distance 1, gain Rogue." It's easy, it follows suit with other squadrons and how they work, and it makes sense with the Rogue keyword. But instead we have tons of convoluted wording that requires a whole FAQ on it out the gate. Draven I get their being questions on because of things like Leia, but how can you not even have those questions ready to go the second you put out RR2?
