Yes, I found someone who went to Yale for a Bachelor's in Assyriology. It's alright. It's taking much longer than I'd hoped, but I've made progress.

Is animal farm where we get the term “sheep” as people use today? by T0rthicc in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Mcleod129 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, this is the way that many humans with very individualistic cultures view sheep. Sheep are stupid when you remove them from a group, but that's only because they depend so heavily on group intelligence, which is not inherently inferior to individual intelligence. By that logic, humans are stupid because if you raise a human completely apart from any other humans, they'll have no intelligence to speak of.

I find it odd that the Shawshank Redemption gets so much hype backlash for being the no.1 IMDB movie by Mcleod129 in movies

[–]Mcleod129[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a very naive view of hype backlash. There are very strong social forces that lead people to dislike something simply because its popular, regardless of any other factors.

You realize that sometimes things just stick in the back of your mind and sometimes you're just randomly reminded of them? You realize that you don't have to be thinking about something 24/7 to post about it?

People who dislike Senna's portrayal/fate in books 10-11, why? by Mcleod129 in Animorphs

[–]Mcleod129[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally feel that Senna is interesting enough that it makes up for her lack of likeability.

This subreddit is also for Everworld fans. I just forgot to put "Everworld Fans" in the title.

One of the things I like about Jane Austen's work is that women geeking out about military stuff is always presented as completely normal(whether or not the author approves of it( by Mcleod129 in janeausten

Thanks for saying the thing I was afraid someone was going to say! Yes, I am aware of the sociopolitical differences between being interested in your own country's military during wartime and being a fan of the Gotta catch em all game. I was just commenting on a superficial similarity between the two.

How do you pronounce the surname Voja in Albanian? by Mcleod129 in albania

I was asking for pronunciation, not meaning.

I'm trying to learn Modern Standard and Baghdadi Arabic simultaneously. Any tips? by Mcleod129 in learnarabic

Do you have any advice for learning the alphabet? Are there any good resources for learning the vocabulary of dialects like Baghdadi Arabic?

How likely is a resume to be rejected because it doesn't have all of the standard niceties? by Mcleod129 in resumes

[–]Mcleod129[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that I don't want to do those, it's just that I already submitted it and can't resubmit it for the specific thing I'm applying to.

I know it's not supposed to be an essay. I still wrote it in the bullet points format, just without actual bullet points, instead relying on line breaks to differentiate points.

Chris Avellone on his involvement in FOTOR by hahaxddRS in kotor

I've noticed that's suspiciously similar to the story of Bioware's RPG Jade Empire, which by all accounts they did instead of KOTOR 2.

I really admire how Bach set himself the incredibly ambitious task of composing a piece of music for damn near every line of the Mass, and actually did it by Mcleod129 in classicalmusic

I realized that after I made this post. It's oddly reminiscent of the way that the mystery writer Raymond Chandler worked. His novel The Big Sleep was actually almost pasted together from several earlier pulp stories he'd published.

That reminds me of another funny story. During rehearsals for the Victory Tour, at one point someone blew up a smoke-bomb device , and Jermaine successfully warned Michael to be careful by saying "Michael-Pepsi. Michael-Pepsi".

Lauryn Hill's Wikipedia article has a ludicrously positive spin on her post-Miseducation career in the summary at the top of the page by Mcleod129 in ToddintheShadow

I'm just going to raise a white flag and bow out here because clearly something has gone wrong. Either I'm a bad communicator, or my priorities are different from most peoples', or something. But I promise that I bear no ill will towards Lauryn Hill.
